Works as advertised on a Mac running Tahoe and better than expected.
Much better than I expected and very glad it allows me to use OBS, or whatever, so I can select the sample rates I like. The hardware is obviously sampling before I set my preferences but whatever it is doing, for $70, it is doing well when it comes to my old VHS tapes from the 1990s. Excellent value and does what it says and just works fine on my Mac running the latest macos Tahoe 26. I bought more expensive converters in the past that tied my hands to their software which was "meh" but in this case you can choose the software you want to use. I used OBS which they recommended, so I didn't try any other software, I just got straight to it, converted to MKV container and FFV1/PCM codecs and it works as advertised.

Saved my old home videos!!
I have a bunch of old family videos we recorded over the years. I have vhs tapes, mini-dvi and 8mm. Trying to get all of these copied and saved to my local storage system was something I wanted to do for awhile and after contacting several different outfits that provide this as a service I decided I would save on the high cost of paying someone else and do it myself. I was a bit concerned about how well this would work because I noticed a few negative reviews that talked about it working for a little while and then no longer working again. Thankfully I did not have any issues at all. Connecting this device up is extremely easy. You connect the USB adapter to your PC (either USB-C or use the included adapter to convert it to USB-B) It has 5 inputs, 1 HDMI in, AV in and S Video in. One of my camera's was just AV in and my other was both s video and avi. In both cases the video and sound transferred with no issues. To handle the conversion you will need to download an awesome piece of software called OBS Studio. This is free/open source software and it works very well. I had to adjust the settings to get the audio correct. You can contact OBS Studio support or ClearClick support in the event you run into questions or an issue. Both are very helpful and respond rather quickly. I was able to convert 8- 8mm tapes and 12- mini dvi tapes over to digital. One thing I wish I had done back in the day was purchase cleaning tapes because after sitting for so long my camera's all needed some good cleaning. My next challenge will be converting all of our VHS tapes to digital. This adapter will handle that as well! Great product for the home user that needs to convert their old home videos!

Great value
Works well for VHS transfers with OBS software but I recommend that you watch several videos on how optimize OBS for VHS capture. The learning curve is not steep, just copy the handful of settings for OBS for VHS transfer. The quality is excellent, of course, with the caveat that SD is nothing like modern formats, but after upscaling to HD using the composite video output, I could not find an S video output cable in my collection of cables, I was surprised how well 40 year old VHS video held up. As a side note, I wasn’t surprised that a couple of tapes had fused, tape stuck together in the cassette, and would not play.

Mostly works great but...
Setup document included was clear and concise (so long as I paid attention, LOL). Got everything working great except audio. There was a buzzing noise in all the audio. At first I assumed it had something to do with my Lenovo laptop but I did some troubleshooting on that and proved to myself that wasn't it. So, I focused on the ClearClick itself. I am connecting to a Sony Camcorder using the S-Video out for video and the analog AV out for audio. Turns out if I only connect the red (right) analog cable there is no buzzing. If I connect the yellow (left) the buzzing starts. Also note that I get no video if I disconnect the S-Video cable and just go analog only (connect the yellow). To me, it seems as if there must be some kind of problem inside the ClearClick device regarding the analog connections but I don't know enough to say. I expected to be able to use either the S-Video or the analog out for video but so far no luck. And, I expected to be able to use stereo audio instead of just one channel. I have not yet contacted ClearClick tech support. I will update this review after that.

This ClearClick Video USB-C Converter is a fantastic tool for digitizing old media. Super easy to use—basically plug and play, and it works seamlessly with various input sources. There’s a slight learning curve just because there are so many options, but that’s actually a huge plus! Once you get the hang of it, the flexibility is amazing. Whether you’re working with VHS, camcorders, or other analog sources, this device handles it all smoothly. Great design, solid performance, and a must-have for anyone looking to convert old media with ease!

Works exactly as described, VERY clear instructions, quick response from CS for a question
I bought this Video2USB device from ClearClick after trying a cheap(er) device from another company that I wasted hours and hours on, with no resolutions to my issues from the other device / company. This ClearClick device has GREAT instructions, setup was easy and flawless. I started transferring videos from my old VHS tapes to digital files right away, and with no issues! There was one odd occurrence I had, but I emailed their CS team and was given a possible solution within an hour! It turns out it will probably just be a setting oversight on my part. Regardless though, quick and friendly customer support. One thing to be aware of if you use this device ... you will not hear 'preview' audio. You'll see the video preview, but there is no audio preview. It clearly states this in the instructions, and it's not relevant to me because the audio comes out great in the final digitized file! In my opinion, very good product!

A must for family historians
SO easy to use with the clear instructions provided by the company. I love how tiny it is and worked right out of the box. The instructions that they provide on how to use OBS are very easy to follow. I'm using it to archive home videos from Hi-8 tapes and VHS tapes. It's saving me a TON of money and giving me a great quality video, considering the source material. I've used Elgato before - and while that was easy, I didn't like how I had to use their software and that the video quality was compressed and poor. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this product!

Video capture is marred by a pink color band at the top of the image. Not usable for me
I was hoping the ClearClick video capture device would be as good as the many positive Amazon reviews seem to indicate but I am disappointed in the results. When trying to archive 8mm tapes from a Sony Handycam, it has a bad pink/purple color band over the top 25% of the image which is there when simply viewing the video input and that color band is in the resulting output. I tried both the composite (yellow) and S-Video connections with the same banding. I also tried using several video recording applications with the color band showing throughout my testing. This was also on three different computers so it's obviously the ClearClick device. Falling back to a very old Diamond One-Touch VC500 video capture dongle, it worked without the color band so, though it is outdated and has to work with Windows 10 and earlier, it did still work. Unfortunately I can't use the ClearClick for what I need it to do. I did also try using a Sony EVI-D30 video conferencing camera using both composite and S-Video connection and that did work properly with both however it's a full-strength standard NTSC signal and very good quality. So, a very high quality signal into the ClearClick is usable but a composite/S-video signal from a handycam is not. While it's reasonably inexpensive and worth a shot (after all, it appears to have worked well for others) it might not be the spectacular performer the reviews might lead you to believe.

Picture quality issue
Video download quality compared to original was distorted. Also sound echoes. Not sure if it’s to do with settings… though very easy setup

Sehr solide gebaut und gute Quallität, kann aber keine Wunder vollbringen !-)
Solider VHS / Video Konverter. Scheint eine höhere Qualität zu haben als die anderen Konverter die ich getestet habe.

Works like a charm on my Mac (had issues on my Win11 PC though)
I bought this specifically to digitize a bunch of old VHS tapes. I had also just built a fast Intel Win11 PC and thought I'd try out this device on what was my newest, fastest computer. But no matter what I did, (reinstalls, etc.) the OBS software didn't want to play nice. So I went over to my 2012 Mac running Monterey on Open Core and it worked like a charm. I transferred at least 80 tapes and the quality was quite good given that the original tapes weren't all that great much of the time. Lots of settings to choose from, so it's quite flexible. Mission accomplished. I'm a happy customer. Thanks. :)
