I have a kid who is a picky eater and don’t like fish or seafood. I wanted to give him a supplement that would provide him with omega 3 fatty acids and other vitamins and minerals that are good for his health and development. I found this one and decided to try it. It is a cod liver oil that is sourced from wild-caught Norwegian cod and processed in a GMP-certified facility. It has a lemon flavor that masks the fishy taste and smell, not fully, but good enough! It comes in a 250 ml bottle with a measuring cup. I think this cod liver oil is a great way to boost my kids health and well-being and I would recommend it to any parent who wants to give their kids a natural and high-quality omega 3 supplement.

Although it is hard for me to remember to take this after supper (I frequently forget to toke it because it is not as convenient as a pill or a capsule), I have confidence in it. After a long time of having trouble getting it out of its bottle (very slow, very slow), I accidentally discovered a very quick way of pouring it into my teaspoon! It flows out quickly if I move the inverted bottle rapidly downward, then rapidly upward, making a sort of jolting motion. It flows out in a narrow intermittent stream directly into my spoon, filling it in only a few seconds! There is no need to remove the plastic insert; don't touch that.

It is worth noting right at the outset that this is no different to the adult version of this product from the same brand, but with a recommended dosage of 2.5ml per day rather than 5ml for adults. The "kids" positioning is merely an example of targeted marketing, so I will review this as I would the adult version. I have tried an awful lot of Omega-3 supplements over the years. This one from Osavi comes in flavoured oil form rather than the more usual capsules. As someone who often struggles with the more common soft gel capsules this format offers significant appeal, as I don't really want to choke while taking my daily Omega-3. The flavouring does a reasonable job of making this more palatable, but it will not avoid that oily mouthfeel, which may put some people off. The key things to look for with regard to the Omega-3 supplements are the levels of EPA and DHA that they contain. Many products seems to represent good value at first glance, but don't actually deliver the level of potential health benefits that you think they might. Ideally, you should be looking for Omega-3 supplements that deliver a daily combined dose of around 1000mg of EPA and DHA . A daily intake of this supplement of 5ml (one teaspoon) would deliver 400mg EPA and 600mg DHA, so a combined total of 1000mg, which is just what you should be looking for. But how does the cost of this product does not stack up? The bottle contains 250ml, so taking 5ml per day at the current cost of £12.42 equates to a daily cost of about 25p. I have tried and reviewed other very good products on here that also deliver a combined dose of EPA & DHA of 1000mg or more, but that do so with a daily cost of less than that amount - but I have also come across others that cost quite a bit more per day, so this one probably sits somewhere in the mid-range. This is certainly a product that would appeal to me as I would prefer not to have to suffer the traumatic experience of trying to swallow soft gel capsules every day. Although I could get some (but not all) good quality capsules at a lower daily cost than this oil, I would consider this to be a reasonable price and certainly not extortionate. Given what I pointed out at the start of this review, what I would say is that if you are considering buying this product, then compare the price of the "adult version" and this "kids version" first and go for whichever one is available at the lower price at the time.
