A plastic wrapped packet of yam noodles in fresh water. Sometimes called 'Miracle Noodles', Shirataki are extremely healthy, low fat, low calorie noodles. They are made from the konjac plant that have a tougher, gelatinous consistency. Yam noodles have a chewy, almost crunchy texture but little flavour of their own, this is why they are a popular ingredient in richer dishes such as sukiyaki. Shirataki literally translates into “white waterfall” as the fine, white strands resemble the spray of a waterfall. Why not swap your regular egg noodles for them? Worth trying.
Tasteless, great in sauce. I don't react well to wheat, i'm not allergic that i'm aware of i just balloon like i'm attached to a helium canister. These noodles are a great alternative to most things and don't detract from any other tastes in the dish. They also don't instil megalomaniac like cravings for those of us who can't eat just one (proper sized) serving of pasta.

This was the first time I have tried these noodles. Not keen on tast and texture. However, as a diabetic they are better for me than conventional noodles or spaghetti as they are very low in carbs.

Zero calorie food.
Bought this one just to try, and have subsequently bought a case of 24. Must rinse, and must cook with something that has some flavour, otherwise you eat them, you feel full, and they really are 0 calorie (actually they are 0 everything, no protein, 0 fat, 0 minerals, nothing), so make sure you eat some normal food too!!

Great in stir fry!
Could easily have passed for the real thing - highly recommended! (Perhaps not for spaghetti carbonara, but certainly for stir frys!
