Comfortable, Great for Aches and Pains.
My mother owns a much older model (still going strong after 15+ years, by the way) of Sunbeamโs neck and shoulder heating pad, so I decided to buy this newer version for myself when I got injured recently. This thing has been a lifesaver during my recovery, especially with its extra weight and the adjustable neck. The plush fabric is comfy and really helps hold the heat close to your body. Sunbeam has always been reliable, in my familyโs experience. Their brand is always my first choice for quality heating pads and electric blankets. This has been worth every penny of the $40 I paid.

ahhhhhhhhhh! Neck, shoulder, upper back, jaw stiffness: HUGE help!
Update: second day and boy is there a big difference! I was having a lot of upper back, shoulder, and neck stiffness and pain and this along with my shiatsu massager is a game-changer! I used the heat by holding it or lying my head to get to my ear and jaw area, put it over an old injury to my shoulder, and placed it at my mid-back as well. You can move it around if you have a way to support it when it's not wrapped around your neck/shoulders. Already by the 3rd time of using it my left ear somatic tinnitus has improved due to the relaxing of all the tense muscles. Yay! -------- I just received this - ordered it today and it arrived today. And, so far; so good! I have it on now and it feels amazing. I moistened mine - actually with hypoclorous anti-microbial spray just in case (though I see it can be washed so that's a good thing) but also to have some moist heat. I have it on high - it heated up quickly, within a minute or two. It's stayed heated up for about 15 minutes so far. What I really like is that you can bend the neck to fit - I have a small neck and the other brand I was looking at didn't conform to the neck and didn't heat up. This heats up at the neck, the shoulders, and the upper part of my back. I am a small woman at 5'2" about 118 but it doesn't feel too big at all. It's a little weighted so that not only holds it down onto your shoulders but feels nice too. It does have an auto shutoff but I always remove any type of heating device and immediately unplug it. So glad I ordered this!

Not Perfect But My Neck And I Love the Heat!
12/22/25: I will say one thing about this neck and shoulder heating pad. It has lasted. I have used it off and on since I purchased it in 2023. Lost it and found it again several times over. It gets around my home and then when I find it, like today, I use it and I'm so thankful for it once again. I'm not easy on heating pads and I have had several that I have no idea where they are because they were bulky or hard to use. This one sits on shoulders and warms my neck immediately. No pain today but the weather is cold and so am I. Bumping up my rating from 2 stars to 4 because of longevity despite not taking care of it and because it always just works. Bought direct from Amazon, like I always do, and once again I was not disappointed with my purchase. 08/16/23: I wish I had listened to the reviewers who talked about this heating pad being uncomfortable to use. It's a torture heating pad. I have the previous gen and it's snuggly and comfortable to use on your shoulders or any other part you want to put heat to because it's not so structured and rigid as this one. It also doesn't heat evenly and all the way to the edges like mine. I wanted one for my living room and one for my bedroom. But this one will not be the one for my living room. I'll keep looking.

AMAZING!!!
This is a change of my original review. I discovered with use the neck portion is adjustable, making this thing absolutely amazing, and 100% better than using a regular flat heating pad. It provides all over relief without having to constantly reposition and it's much easy to get on and off. Can't wait to use it while working. I do wish it had an option to leave on indefinitely. I have pretty severe neck pain and this thing helps relieve the pain, at least while it's on. Despite my critique, it gets 5 stars for the pain relief it provides and ease of use.

Finally, some hope.
I have barely owned this thing for an hour and let me tell you...I can already tell this will hopefully solve so many of the issues I've been having. I deal with constant tension headaches and its extended into my shoulders and arms. I work a desk job, and so muscle tightness, ergonomics and posture is a constant battle. I've bought a handful of different heating pads with very marginal success for this. Even if I buy a big rectangular pad, it will not stay on me. It's more frustrating than anything else. I've been trying to find a solution that is similar enough to the heated pads that my physical therapist would put on me before my stretches. This though? It's slightly weighted with beads, so it keeps the heat against you. It contoured to the neck, so it wraps around comfortably and has a rigid structure in it to keep its shape. Though I wouldn't make a habit of constantly resting all of my weight against it just for the longevity of the product, it is one step short of those airplane pillows so its very comfortable. And its got a magnet in the front to keep it locked in place. I'm not sure how long that magnet will last being exposed to heat, I'm a little surprised its not velcro or something similar. But even if such a thing happens, it should be an easy fix. I am on the lowest setting and its very, very warm. I've had bad luck with heating pads stopping working, where they will eventually only heat in one spot because they are built and manufactured cheaply. I always have a huge worry with these things starting fires. Sunbeam's reputation I hope will make this a much longer lasting product. For my sake, I really hope this lasts because so far, it seems money very well spent. Time will tell.

Works Well and Can be Adjusted for Folks with Smaller Necks
There were a number of mixed reviews with this and some other similar specialized heating pads and I was skeptical but bought as a deal of the day item and it works great. A number of women have mentioned that it didn't seem to fit well and didn't like it because of that. I have a 17 1/2 inch neck and it fits well. There is a soft metal bar that runs horizontally in the neck part that can be bent to make fit snug, much like the nose pincher on a paper dust mask. This gets quite warm/hot so sometimes I will put it on 4 for a few minutes and then drop it down to 2 or 1 and it feels very good and it has helped provide some relief for a chronic neck condition I have. Other times I have just started it on 2 and left it there and that works well and doesn't take long to feel the warmth. The construction is top rate and the outer edges are filled with weights which work well in allowing the pad to contour around your neck and shoulders. The cover is very plush and soft and it fits so well and is comfortable despite it weighing several pounds when you pick it up, but once on you don't notice it at all. This is more of a suggestion than a complaint as the controller only has forward movement which means you have to cycle though all four positions before it comes back around rather than having up and down switches like most heating pads. Going from 4 to 3 requires cycling off, 1, 2, and then 3. Not a big deal, just wondering why they didn't use the same type of controller as they have on their standard heating pads. It has a 5 year warranty that probably would cost more than it was worth to ship back if the thing is short lived, though this is a common issue with most warranties. Hoping it works as well as my Sunbeam flat heating pad that I have had for years.

feels great but doesn't last
First off, I love the original of this. It's one of the few that have heat in the neck portion. It also has something in there so you can mold it to the shape of your neck. It has four heat settings which like most brands, aren't really reliable. I almost always use low, which is sometimes low and sometimes not. Unfortunately, amazon tells me I have bought 5 of these, and I may have bought one locally for a total of six...because they last maybe a year if I'm lucky. And, sunbeam did replace one of them for me bringing me up to seven. One of them just died on me at 3 mos and I need to replace it and I've been too annoyed to reach out, again. Another sad thing is that the new model I have, the metal in the neck so that it bends to your shape seems to be thicker and firmer than the older ones. For me, since I've had surgery on the back of my neck, this hurts. Sadly, I think I need to look for another brand.

Better than a flat pad and wonderful to use.
I rarely give 5 stars but this is an above-the-average product for its class. I love how soft it is, the multi-function heat settings work perfectly and I've used this heating pad for about two years now. It's 100% reliable and you can use this heating pad on various places on the body. I just had abdominal surgery and was able to drape it over my abdomen very comfortably. This pad is very durable, has auto shut-off and cleans easily with a washrag. Simply put, this is an excellent product that I highly recommend.
