Abu Garcia Ambassadeur S Baitcast Round Fishing Reel

This reel is great! I wish I would have brought 3 of these. I swear by it now.

The Abu Garcia Ambassadeur S is everything I hoped for in a round baitcasting reel. It’s built solid, feels durable in hand, and the drag system is smooth and consistent. I’ve used it for both freshwater and light saltwater fishing, and it handles everything from bass to catfish without a problem. The casting is smooth with very little backlash once it’s dialed in, and the retrieve feels powerful yet controlled. I especially appreciate the classic design paired with modern performance — you can tell it’s made to last. Overall, this reel gives me confidence every time I’m on the water. Abu Garcia really delivered with the Ambassadeur S, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a dependable, all-around baitcaster.

Reasonable price and functions well. I’m getting back into fishing after a 20 years and Abu Garcia is products I have used for years fishing in the Great Lakes and Alaska. No I’m fishing for the many species of bass in the south and first time is used this reel I was catching spotted and stripers with no issues. Confidence in product and product name

Love it casting is really smooth I don’t take care of my rods and reels like I should and it’s held up really well so far only problem I had is the literal first time I ever used it had a bad snag and go it out but realized my clicker was broke and that was a few months ago which sucks but besides that I like it only own one but I will say I bought a ancient mariner as well and I prefer that more and just got a second one of those about the same price has a lifetime warranty as well BUT comes with a power handle I don’t care for the 2 small knobs and anyone coming from spinning reels that like that kind of feeling you want a power handle which is the one big knob

I needed a reel that would become my go to for all my catfish rods. I have officially outfitted myself with only this reel on all 4 of my rods and couldn't be happier. I paired them with 30lb braided line and every single one runs smoothly. The release line drag setting is reliable and effective. The actual drag on them is also reliable and smooth as I have brought in 25lb catfish without problem and feel confident they could handle much larger fish given the right rod. They aren't massive reels either so they fit in my rod storage on the boat easily when rods are stacked together closely. I have drug these onto kayak fishing trips and banged them around often. Every reel does it all without complaint. They look pretty slick but more importantly they work even better. Very durable and highly recommend!!

Amazed Abu Garcia put their name on this hunk of junk. Upon opening this reel you can definitely tell it’s not the high quality reel they use to make in Sweden. I have 3 older models that are 18-25 years old that have been heavily used (including saltwater) and will still outperform this newer reel by far. Right off the bat you will need to open it up and remove all the excess grease on the gears and properly oil it instead, which will make it a lot smoother. The push button feels super cheap compared to the older button,regular screws replaced the original thumb screws,plastic gears, discolored die cast instead of machined aluminum.. it’s nowhere near the same reel it use to be, at least the ones made in China. It’s now more of a tricycle with training wheels after riding a mountain bike. New out of the box it reels like you’ve used it a couple of seasons surf fishing and never properly maintained it. Sorry, but this is my honest review so don’t have your hopes set too high. 🥴

Great real so far took it out fishing in the day. I got it no issues yet. Great luck on the pole. I was not disappointed very pleased.
