Q: How far does the back recline not sure what 180 reclind means? I assume it does not lay flat

The amount adjustable lean is the first of two design issues. The adjustment is accomplished by releasing a cam lever that pinches two toothed gears together to lock and hold the lean in place. From completely upright to horizontal has 6 options. That gives a 15° change to each spot. For us it should be less for comfort. Anything passed the 15° point is a snooze position. The other issue is with the footrest. It's nice and big and for now, we just set them up, well designed accept for a very needed detail. There's nothing that mechanically holds it to the chair. Any moving of the chair from one spot to another and the footrest falls off on the first one we set up. The second fell of as soon as my wife sat in the second chair. Put it together again and as she oh so carefully sat down and lifted feet up and leaned back it fell off again. It's now laying off to the side. For something that seems to have been engineered and built so well these are possibly enough for us to send them back. While I can improvise a way to hold the footrest in place I'm not about to re-engineer the toothed lean mechanism.

It can be adjusted while in the chair but you must take the pressure off the back.
