Love Live! Sunshine!!: Season One [Blu-ray]

This review is not directed at the content of this Blu-ray/DVD Combo product, as I would easily give Love Live! Sunshine!! 50 stars, with each Aqours members and the show itself getting 5 stars each. But some of details in this product is causing me to give this a 4 stars at best.1) The hard paper cover for the product looks fine, being bright and shiny, but the Blu-ray case cover look a lot dimmer. Not sure if it was a printing issue, but for a moment this somehow has the look of a bootleg that are found on eBay.2) The menu screen needs work, as it just look empty. I know this is a budget release (the original Japanese release is exponentially more expensive), but even a collage of screen shots used on the disc itself would be better.2) The opening and ending credit text size are too big, so the amount of text sometimes are blocking the entire screen (like at the end of the opening credit). Especially when there are the Japanese staff and English staff, the text size should have been reduced so all the credit fits without affecting the visual experience.3) As far as I can tell, I could not find any mention of the opening, ending, or any of the insert songs in the credit. With the music being a core component of Love Live! Sunshine!!, I would thought they would be mention so viewers watching this for the first time can research and experience more to this franchise.4) When the disc is played, a text screen will appear asking the viewers' understanding and cooperation since the English audio contains the original Japanese songs. What does this even mean? Is this a warning like those who may experience seizure from video game, but in this case for those that may not be comfortable hearing Japanese anime pop music?I really hope Funimation will do a better job when they release season 2 sometime in the future. As based on this, it may worth the investment to just buy the original Japanese limited edition release instead. Even if they are more expensive, they come with songs that are not release on iTune.

I am very impressed with this Blu-ray set. This is actually my first Blu-ray dvd I own. The picture quality of the anime is so good I now want to buy Blu-ray’s of my other favorite animes. If you haven’t watched Love Live Sunshine, this is a great way to start. It’s very colorful and beautiful, and on Blu-ray you will definitely notice it.

It may be similar to the original love live but what really makes it shine are the characters. You have a country bumpkin who says Zura at the end of sentences, a hardcore chuunibiyo, and a “talented in everything” girl. The list goes on. Also the songs are little better in my opinion. The show is great overall. If you like love live in general then it’s no reason to pass this up.

Received with a disc loose and bouncing around inside. At least it was only the DVD disc.

Love the series and this is a very nice product. Recommended for Love Live fans!

Very fun and cute show.

Cute series but it is just an average "retread". Think of it as Love Live! Next Generation. Got to sample the series on the Funimation website.Setup is almost exactly the same as the original Love, Live! Cute, determined redhead girl sees video of Muse and decides she wants to start her own idol group at her all girls school out in the country somewhere. Enter the stern student body president who is grimly dead set against allowing protagonist to establish an idol group at their school. The student body president expresses all the same objections just like the student body president in the original series. The redhead protagonist stubbornly continues to try and recruit talented, cute girls to get enough to start the club, including finding a musician who can write music.In short, it's cute but is very much like the original series.

Great Sequel Series. You don't need to see the original to watch Love Live! Sunshine!! but it is better if you do. Only complaint is that the first season is really familiar to the first season of the original so some might not like that. But that said Love Live! Sunshine!! is still a lot of fun!

After watching some more serious and emotional anime, I wanted something a bit more uplifting and happy. This series is actually very heartwarming, comedic and cute. But also I was very impressed by the life lessons taught in the show, specifically towards Ruby. I'm looking forward to purchasing season 2 in the future.
