Lund 79460T 60-Inch Aluminum Flush Mount Single Lid Truck Tool Box, Diamond Plated, Black

Was looking for a light weight larger chest style bed box for my truck. Went back and forth on spending nearly twice as much money on the other brands or go with this Lund. When the price dropped down nearly 40 bucks on the Lund I decided to just take a chance on the cheaper box. It arrived fast via UPS. Packaged loosely in a single layered cardboard box with no styrofoam protection whatsoever. Mine suffered about 8 dents. Most you can just pop out with a rubber mallet and a block of wood. The one on the center front of the lid is not fixable due to that area being double walled. Overall the box is nice. Latches and lock all work great. Has a foam seal around the top lid. Made in the USA. Very light weight and easy for one person to pick up and load into your truck (when empty). Gas struts on each side of lid lift nice. As noted by another reviewer this does not fit flush to the floor of a Ram 6'4" short bed. The side corners hit the wheel wells and there is about a 2" gap from bottom of chest to the bed floor. This doesn't matter to me due to how I am going to mount it - But if you have a Ram short bed truck and want the box to sit under the bed rail and flush to the floor - this is not the box for you. Also if you are a stickler about it arriving with damage, this is def not the box for you. The black glossy finish is very nice and looks great, but just note that it gets hot when in direct sunlight. BURNING hot to the touch and very hot inside. I painted mine a lighter color to match a custom bed rack that it is bolted to - so that fixed that issue - But just something to note. Overall the box should work great for what I am going to use it for.

I’ve made some pretty bad purchases on Amazon but this one beats them all. This toolbox is the flimsiest I’ve ever seen. There are more dents in this thing that I care to count. So I go to return it and the seller says ok ship it back to us. The shipping is almost as much as I paid for the toolbox. Do not buy this you will not be happy with it.

First of all the item itself would be very nice IF Amazon could figure out how to send it safely, or maybe if UPS could not deliver it damaged?!!! The first time I ordered this was a nightmare. It came with with just a loose piece of cardboard wrapped around the center and it was beat to death. When I set it out to be sent back UPS notified me that it was not packaged correctly, the ends had to be covered!! OMG! They delivered it to me the same way I set it out! SO I had to buy package paper and mail tape to wrap it to their approval. SO I ordered it a second time because this was a gift and I felt bad about it. It took forever to arrive, BOTH times. The second time the box was intact. However, when opened we found the lid to be a little warped along with a dent in the back. It still closes and locks and with the trouble it took to send back it was not worth it to go through the hassle and long wait again. The gift was already pushing 2 and a 1/2 months late. What a crap gift I ended up giving. So if you have plenty of time and patience it would be worth trying and hoping yours arrived in good condition, it would be nice if it came in the original, new condition it was meant for....

The factory assembled the locking pin incorrectly. They installed it backwards and it will not work. If you remove the locking pin and reinstall it 180° and then readjust for length it works perfectly! It’s about a five minute fix per pin.Secondly, both of my boxes came dented. The shipping cardboard from Amazon was horrible. Very thin and no structure. The dents are easy to pop out with a rubber mallet as the metal is very thin.The price for what you get is unbelievably great! I should not have any torque issues once I install on top of my diamondback tonneau cover. If you do not install these and just use them in your bed, your boxes may get torqued.

After reading the reviews I was concerned about the condition of the packaging when it arrived but all was good once I unpacked it.Nice tool box, holds a lot, most of my stuff is in individual cases and is safely stowed in it.My only complaint is with Ford and it's the fuel filler placement keeps it from being centered in the bed.

I have a 2003 Chevy Silverado Z71 extended cab with a 6’6” bed which is “standard bed”. Box fits wonderfully. I centered it with about 2” gap on each side. There is plenty of room before the wheel well. I also pulled it off the back wall about an inch so that when it can open completely. I bolted it down to my bed and it’s nice and secure.Box is extremely lightweight. Easy to install.5 gallon buckets fit inside standing up and lid closes no problem. Plenty of space inside.Box had a minor dent but come on guys it’s a tool box.

It has about 6 or 8 dents in it. I would like to talk to someone about it please.

As with other reviews, mine came dented in about 6 places. I'm an aerospace welder by trade and while the welds are okay, the material thickness leaves something to be desired. It did not come with mounting hardware but 3- 3/8th x 3/4" bolts, 6 cut flat washers and 3 nylock nuts and the install was finished. Because of where dents were I had to massage them out with my dead blow mallet. After I massaged the dents I was finally able to get the lid to latch and unlatch freely. I would have returned this box but it was a last minute purchase for our road trip to our new living destination and I was kind of stuck. None of the local hardware stores had a 60" box in stock that they could sell me either. 5 days now into our trip and I've had to manipulate the cheap/ thin aluminium multiple times because it bends that easily. If I could get my money back and spend on something that has more bends for rigidity, I would. If you're in a pinch and just absolutely need something and quality isn't an issue, this box will do. Other than that, stay away and spend more money else where. If LUND wishes to make this right, I'm open to suggestions.
