The greatest benefit is from using Mackerel, Sardines, or Anchovies to make the Fish Oil. This product does not use Salmon.

How does the beneficial components help the heart etc if these don't dissolve until they are in the small intestines (on their way "out")?

Hi, you've asked a great question. The answer is pretty simple. The small intestine is the part of the intestines where 90% of the digestion and absorption of food occurs, the other 10% taking place in the stomach and large intestine. The main function of the small intestine is ABSORPTION of nutrients and minerals from food and supplements. Most supplements do not cause burping and have some sort of bad aftertaste so they can generally start breaking down in the stomach and the small intestines will absorb the nutrients thereafter. However, Fish Oil does cause a fishy aftertaste and burping when an ordinary soft gel dissolves in the stomach so being able to bypass the stomach and dissolve ONLY in the small intestines helps alleviate this common problem.
