About the Author A previous journalist, turned an outspoken political activist, Fathi Aldaw dedicated the majority of his career defending human rights and encouraging the spread of democracy in his country and birthplace, Sudan. Unable to freely practice his basic rights in Sudan, he worked in the Middle East and later in the horn of Africa. He has been residing in the United States since 2002.
