The Sauder 6' cabinet is sturdy and well designed, and the back panel is firm and painted. A handyman assembled it and the instructions were clear and all the parts were included. Amazon promptly returned a first delivery that was damaged in shipping. Getting a replacement took a few days. The cabinet is much better than expected. I'll purchase Sauder products again! A Happy Customer!

I'll start off by saying that this is my 2nd & 3rd purchase of this cabinet. Living in a home built in the 1800's, we lack storage! The first one was purchased two years ago and used as a linen closet for my bathroom. After renovating our pantry this past week, I purchased two more of these to put side by side. This gives me lots of storage! I can tell you the instructions improved immensely on these since my first purchase. Very clear and easy to follow this time around. Even the nails/screws/pieces were clearly labeled. Here are my pro's and cons: Pro's -Instructions were very clear and the unit was surprisingly easy to put together (except for the doors - you'll need a 2nd set of hands to align the hinges). But being a tiny woman, I managed to put these together in no-time. -The hinges on the door do allow you to adjust the doors both horizontally and vertically in case they don't look even. The first cabinet had a big gap between the doors when I first installed them. The second cabinet, the right door fell a little lower than the left. Adjusting fixed it a bit. -You can easily adjust the feet in case your floor is slightly uneven to adjust the unit. I put two next to each other and this feature came in very handy. -Shelves are deep and adjustable. -Looks modern and clean Cons: -The door handles on one of the units are not even. Meaning, the holes were drilled slightly off. Nothing I can do about that one. Hardly noticeable, but I see it.... -As great as this unit is, the back of it is severely lacking in quality. It's literally a piece of cardboard backing (not even particle board). How is this possible?? -The doors close SUPER loudly. Maybe i'm just used to my soft close kitchen cabinets. I purchased cabinet bumpers to help with this. It made a difference. -While the shelves themselves are sturdy, they are made of particle board. I made the mistake in my bathroom cabinet of storing some liquid soap bottles in there and my iron. BIG mistake. I had a leak and the shelf bubbled and warped. Just a heads up to use contact paper or liners if you plan to store anything with a liquid. Overall, I am very happy with how these came out. They serve the purpose, look great, and didn't cause me to lose my mind when installing. These are worth the purchase!

A small part of the instructions were a little confusing. Most pieces weren't labeled. Door stop rattled when loosened. Very sturdy. Fit perfectly into the spot. Looks very nice.

I bought a Hodedah and had to return it for several reasons. I bought two, assembled one, and returned both with one unopened. In the past, I have found that Sauder products, although pretty cheap in quality (and price) for the money are fairly sturdy, have decent instructions, are fairly easy to put together, and are worthwhile. This cabinet, of which I bought two, is a little better than what I remember Sauder cabinets to be. It seems they have made some improvements over the years. I don't like the styrofoam in the packing, but it was packed well. Upon opening the carton the instructions were on top as was the bundle of parts, each part sealed in its labeled cell. Easy to do an inventory of pieces and parts. You get the exact number of parts needed in the instructions with the exception if 1" nails (tacks) for mounting the chipboard (cardboard) back of which you need 40, but they give you some extra. The only tools needed are a small hammer and a standard Phillips head screwdriver. The predrilled holes were all where they were supposed to be and in proper alignment. I put together one cabinet by myself and with the other I had help. It goes pretty quickly if you're doing it all by yourself, but much more quickly if you have another person working with you. The hardest part for one person alone is hanging the doors, but it's doable. You just position the top hinge and partially screw in the mounting screws. then you do the middle hinge, then the bottom hinge, all partially screwed in. Once all are on, then tighten all of the mounting screws. I think bottom to top on the tightening is best, but it doesn't really matter. With two people one holds the door in place while the other screws in the hinges. Much easier than holding the doors yourself while screwing them on, but it's not essential that you have help. For all of the rest of the busywork, it just goes twice as fast with two people doing it. It pays to also have some damp paper towels to wipe off the styrofoam dust that clings to the surfaces of all of the pieces. I like to wipe them down before assembly and touch it up afterward, but many people might not care. I would have preferred that the back of the cabinet was particle board like the rest of the cabinet rather than heavy chipboard and that the top was finished. It is made with the assumption that the top will not be visible, so that surface is unfinished. If, however, you have it in a room where you can look down on it at all the unfinished top will stand out and reveal that it is a cheap piece of furniture. The door hinges have three adjustments so you can get them positioned well once it is all assembled and in place. That is a bit of a chore, but not any more so for this cabinet as it is for any other piece of furniture of any quality that allows for door adjustment. The fact that it has the adjustment is a plus. So for a self-assembly cabinet in this class of furniture, Sauder is probably the best you're going to find. This goes for any other furniture they make. In the past, I have purchased and built various Sauder products and they are always equal to or better than the same/similar products manufactured by their competitors. That was my experience with this cabinet as well.

I recently bought this storage cabinet to use as a linen closet, and I'm extremely pleased with it, considering its price point. In fact, I liked it so much that I bought a second one to sit right next to the first. The cabinet was easy to put together. I've constructed more than 30 pieces of DIY furniture over the years from various retailers, including Target, Ikea, World Market, Overstock, etc., and I have to say that I was extremely impressed with this cabinet from Sauder. I would rank it in my personal Top 5 for a variety of reasons. First, the instructions were clear and easy to follow, especially for someone who has experience putting together DIY furniture. The instructions even included tips on making minor adjustments to the hinges (loosening the mounting screws) so that you can attach them into the cabinet walls quickly and easily. These "hinge adjustment tips" also help you position the doors once the cabinet is done so that there's no gap between them. Sauder also has a ton of instructional YouTube videos that help with this -- I'd highly recommend checking them out as a reference before putting the cabinet together. All the hardware is separated and labeled in a handy plastic bubble sheet. And, all of the pre-drilled screw holes are in the right spot. Everything just fits. You don't have to bend or shove or warp anything to get it to align properly. I'm a petite/small-framed 5'4" female, and aside from having my husband bring the shipping box (110 pounds) inside the house, I took it from there and put the cabinet together by myself with no assistance. It took about an hour and required only a hammer and a Philips head screwdriver (I'd recommend using a cordless/electric screwdriver, which will speed up the process considerably). I do want to share a DIY furniture tip or "shortcut" I learned years ago for any other small-framed people who are putting this unit together alone. When attaching door hinges to a cabinet, it's easier for me to lay the cabinet on its side (rather than upright, as the directions invariably recommend) and then attach the hinges from there, along the floor. No balancing or holding up the door. That approach has worked every time for years and definitely worked with this Sauder cabinet as well. Both of the units I ordered had a few tiny nicks in the finish here and there, but not on every piece. I just used a dark brown marker to fill them in, and now you can't even tell. I think these minor scratches could be totally avoided if Sauder would just put a single sheet of newsprint paper between the individual pieces in the shipping box, like Ikea does. As it stands, the pieces are well protected by the shipping box, but they're not necessarily protected from *each other* inside the box. All of the cabinet's interior shelves are adjustable and hold a maximum weight of 25 pounds. They are a very tight fit, though. I agree with other reviewers who said that the interior shelves are cut about 1/8" - 1/16" too wide. However, I got them to fit with a little pushing/tapping. The door handles look sleek and modern and are a cinch to attach. The cabinet's Dakota Oak finish is a lovely espresso color -- not quite as dark as Ikea's espresso-colored furniture, though, for anyone who might be wondering. Overall, I'm really pleased with how easy this cabinet was to construct, the extra tips on adjusting the hinges, and the appearance of the finished product. As I mentioned above, I liked the first cabinet so much that I bought a second one to sit right next to it. Constructing the second cabinet was just as easy as the first. Together, they're fantastic, and I couldn't be happier. I highly recommend this cabinet and would not hesitate to buy it again or buy another piece from Sauder. It's so much nicer than what you'd get from Ikea. [Also, side note: Because of the depth of this cabinet (17") and the fact that all the interior shelves are adjustable, it would be great as a dollhouse apartment for adult collectors of Blythe, Pullip, Barbie, etc.!]

After going to IKEA and finding almost everything I wanted on back order, I thought I would see how available items were on Amazon. I am glad I did because this storage cabinet is excellent. Here are a few specific notes: - Yes, it is particle board, but I wasn't expecting anything else at this price and you shouldn't either! That said, it is very well engineered. Solid and well designed structurally. Looks great too. - The instruction manual is the best I have seen for a DIY product. Very clear, well written, very well illustrated and even amusing ("Pro Tip: Lift with your legs. And, you know, your arms"). - The engineering is with very low tolerances, which is generally excellent, but be aware of it when putting in the shelves - they don't have gaps at the side. True too for the door hinges - more on that below. - The door hinges are excellent, but the holes for their placement are pretty tight for a vertical install. It will take some pressure to get the screw to take. The manual recommends you install these once the main cabinet is standing, but I found it easier to install the doors while the cabinet is on it's side. Position the cabinet so you can install the opened door while on the floor and you have more control on the hinge install. Keep in mind this will mean a very careful movement (close the door before changing sides) to each side of the cabinet to bring it to the floor, but it made that step a lot easier. I would rather lift and place the cabinet on the floor a couple of times than try to hold up a door and push with a screwdriver. - The sizing of the cabinet is also just right. It fits a medium sized storage container just right, and there are enough shelves to make it highly functional for many purposes. But it is still not too wide, deep or tall to get through a doorway if you need to. - I was a little surprised that there was nothing besides the top and bottom to hold the sides in place, but once those shelves are in it holds it's form even with movement. - Another pleasant surprise was the cabinet "feet". 4 PVC foot blocks help secure the cabinet structurally and make it easier to slide across a surface if needed. They also keep it from direct contact with the floor which is good. Overall, an excellent product and I would buy it again.

Very well made, sturdy and strong. Adjustable shelves which is a major plus and plenty of storage room. It has a simple look but I like it, being well made is more important to me. My brother-in-law and I put it together quickly, he had a battery operated screwdriver and I held things in place, so it would be best to have two people to put it together. Well worth the money.

I needed a cabinet to serve as a kitchen pantry. I found two products that seemed suitable, this one (Sauder HomePlus Storage Cabinet, Soft White finish), and another Sauder product (Sauder Storage Cabinet, Soft White finish, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M0QM2O7/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&th=1). I picked the one I did for two reasons - (1) the size of this one was better suited to my needs, and (2) customer reviews on the other one were mixed, comments such as "NOT HEAVY DUTY like most Sauder". Since I expect high traffic for my cabinet, better built was more desirable. That is relevant to my review. The Amazon review templates asks four questions: 1 - Storage capacity. It is what it is. The webpage includes the cabinet dimensions, so you know precisely what you are getting. Measure the intended location and your storage needs, and buy accordingly. So, I gave it 5 stars. 2 - Ease of assembly. Compared to other knockdown or ready-to-assemble furniture, it was typical, perhaps easier than most. The company supplies the hardware in a blister pack that keeps items separated and easy to find, clever and convenient. So, no complaints. I gave it 4 stars for its basic assembly, but took away a star because it necessitated some repair or extra activity that should not have been necessary. 3 - Sturdiness. Not so much. This is where I found the irony in the other reviews, because if this is relatively sturdy, I would hate to see the other cabinet I did not get. It feels flimsy. Compared to other KD furniture, one of the reasons it is easier to assemble than many is that it has fewer rigid fasteners and fixation points. As long as the cabinet just sits in some quiet place and is not expected to be moved or used much, no problem. But here is what I found problematic. The doors are on hinges. They are standard hinges, easy to adjust, but every time I adjusted them, the doors seemed to drift within a day, necessitating another adjustment. I realized by the third day that the problem was not the hinges, but the doors themselves. Each door has a frame of four pieces of wood joined at 45 degree miter joints. Those joints are not glued or not "something" whatever the fastener was supposed to be. The doors kept creaking farther and farther into a rhomboid shape, the side edges suspended on the hinges, the center edges continually drooping so that the bottom center corner kept hitting the cabinet base until no further adjustments were possible. I then glued those miter joints after truing up the shape, and now all is good. But, that should not be necessary - that is not part of the normal KD user assembly experience - the factory did not do its diligence or duty. It is typical of the overall sense of flimsiness to this product. So, 3 stars for sturdiness. 4 - Overall rating. I give it 3 stars. It is nothing special as KD furniture goes, nothing terribly bad, but nothing terribly admirable for the company to be proud of. My main beef is the cost. I paid $175, and for that price, I assumed that the quality would be better. That price is not inherently unreasonable, but compared to other KD furniture of comparable size, it seems excessive. The other product I did not choose was bigger, and I cannot believe it was any flimsier, and that was only $140. I have bought plenty of KD cabinets, and for what I got, a more realistic price might have been $ 90 - 120. Two things I did like. (1) Each foot can be adjusted for height, so it can be leveled precisely for your floor, and, as I always do, it allows the cabinet to be easily tipped back so it leans toward the wall a degree or two, making it more stable. (2) The shelf supports are durable metal pins that will not wear and break, and they include little silicone covers over the pins to cushion the shelves and avoid any rattling. Overall, if you need a cheap cabinet of this size and do not mind spending a bit more than than you think it should because it is the correct size, then this is not a bad deal. But, be prepared to do a bit of handiwork on it.

I purchased two of these cabinets to stand side by side in my mud room to hold kitchen appliances, closet type items and pantry items. It fits the bill and looks nice and clean in my mud room where before it was an open shelved mess. They are sturdy and wee easy to assemble. Highly recommend!

The cabinet overall is a great product and easy to assemble. The finish is good and easy to clean. The variable choices for shelf designation is great, offering lots of choices. There are a couple of things that could be improved. 1) the backing of the cabinet is made of thin cardboard that is tacked on and does not provide any structural strength and if items are placed hard against could break. 2) The doors have spring loaded hinges that keep them closed but in my opinion are a bit week and should of had a magnetic catch at the top of each door.

Arrived on time, well packed, easy to assemble. Not as solid as I would like, but pretty good for the money. Does look nice though. You just can't be too rough with it. Happy all in all.

Instructions are easy to read and this pantry was super easy to assemble. Looks great, I love the size and the finish matches my kitchen cabinets very well.

Here are a few things - - We assembled the unit on a carpet. We had it laid down and followed the instructions on paper as well as the you tube video link provided on the instruction manual. - When we were assembling the U shaped base, we realized that if we aligned 3 of the screw holes, the 4th would not. So we used a power tool to create a slightly shifted hole. We did not need to use a drillbit . Just used the screw itself to do that. - Putting in the doors using the hinges - that was the trickier part - the doors are a bit mis-aligned from the top but only slightly mis-aligned at the bottom but luckily its not too visible from a distance. - There is a gap between the doors from where you can see about 1/2 inch of the shelving. I think we need to adjust the hinges to close that gap. It is not looking bad though. - The unit is located in our dining room and fits in nicely. It was a bit wobby until we added the shelves and dumped some heavy items on the bottom shelf. - After the storage items are loaded ( I am using it as a pantry ) it is steady and has weight and our cats are having a great time using the top of the unit as a hideaway. The dining table is working as a launch pad. lol - Note that the holes they made on the cardboard for the back from where to slip out the metal strip to attach to the wall was not in the middle so the strip comes out twisted. It would not be easy to get that comfortably attached to the wall.
