Great Knife
I go camping and I wanted a small utility that would be useful out there but also small enough to keep in my pocket when I want to have it with me back in the city (so that ruled out a 7" fixed blade). I was recommended Gerber by a friend who is very into knives and I saw this one and decided to go with it. I got it and it's a fantastic knife. Folds up pretty small and the clip is really handy. The knife itself is great - it came sharpened, and it was SHARP!!! I could lay the edge on a tomato and the knife would fall into the tomato under it's own weight (this is the fine edge portion too - not the serrated portion!). The knife is comfortable to hold and the design looks great. You can open it a few ways. When closed, a little nub sticks out the back side of the knife and if you "flip" the knife while putting pressure on this nub with your index finger (you would be putting pressure toward the bottom of the hilt), you can flip the knife open. Another way is with your thumb pressing the peg on the side of the knife (pegs are on both sides so you can do it with your right or left hand). The other was is just pulling it open with your other hand. To close it you need to push over a piece of metal that is bent. It is bent so it sits behind the blade locking it open. You must push it so that the metal is flat against the inside of the handle, allowing the blade to rotate closed. All in all it's a great little knife and I liked it so much I bought a second Gerber knife!

Affordable pocket knife
At its price point it is light weight, durable, well-made, and has a reasonably decent blade. Great price in the combo pack with the smaller Evo Jr. Easy opening with a single lock (would be even better with a CRKT double lock system) mechanism. Reasonably sharp from the factory with the combo edge cuts rope, tarp, etc. with ease. I purchased the Evo to compare to the CRKT knives of the same type that I already own (M16 EDC and M21 SFG). In around the same price range it is a good alternative, though the blade material is slightly different between the two companies. Finally, given how affordable these are, if one does 'break' a new one won't break the bank.

Finally A Solid Sailor's Knife!
So I've been checking out a bunch of these knives at the local sporting good stores so I can take sailing. I'm looking for a folding knife that I can open with one hand. Most of them were either ugly or the blade can be twisted out too easily (sometimes all it takes is a hard shake and the blade comes out). When I tried this knife I realized this is the knife for me. It felt sturdy, strong, easy to open with one hand but not easy to shake the blade out and a good price. My only 2 gripes are: there's no socket for me to hang this around my neck without having the rope touch the blade and it doesn't come with a sleeve. Can't have it all!

best knife ever!
i love this knife!!!... its light weight, serrated and strait blade makes for multi-functional use...not too big or small.... if you want smaller, you can go with the jr, but i like this size.... ive had several (because of losing them) and i've gifted them to people.... very sturdy..... easy to open and it actually flips out if you get the good wrist flick in there.......very sharp, although if you use it a lot, i suggest to get a little knife sharpener too.... i actually left my last one in someones car, and am about to re-purchase =)

Sharp, Light and Durable
I had to order another one of these as I lost my first one that I had for about 6 years. This is an incredible deal for a premium product. It's anti-corrosive layer worked well in the saltwater air and water. It cut through countless items and stayed sharp. The hand protector is invaluable when you're not paying close enough attention to what you're doing. This is a great knife for any camper, hunter, fisherman, outdoor enthusiast, etc. Very pleased.

Great knife!
This may sound weird, but I bought this knife for my daughter. She's an avid hiker, backpacker and mountain climber. She needed a lightweight, but strong all around knife. It quickly opens and securely closes. The clip on the side is a nice addition. It's very sharp and should fill the bill for her. She really liked it when I gave it to her. I had other options, but went with Gerber because of it's outstanding reputation. I think it's a good value as well.

Have had one for about 10yrs, served me well enough to get the same thing again.
I've been using one as my EDC for about 10 years and I've put it through quite a bit of punishment. Considering the cost being less than $40 for a tool that held up for so long under so much use and abuse, and still is actually functional, I absolutely believe it deserves 5 stars. I've included pictures of the old beside the new to give you an idea. I especially love the basic design features and shape (which it shares almost all of with the crkt M16 family). The slim handle, slender well balanced design, and flipper tab are all features that I love and look for in just about any knife I buy. That being said, I'll tell you the few things I found that can be complained about: -First and the reason I decided to replace it. The screws that held on the pocket clip stripped their threads out recently and would no longer hold the pocket clip onto the knife. And the screws in the end of the handle began to show signs of doing the same, as shown in the 3rd picture where you can see the handle has started to separate. Attempting to tighten the screws just spins them in place. I believe I may have caused this problem for both the pocket clip and handle by over tightening the screws. But this is also a recent development beginning in the last year. -Second, and you'll notice it early on. The blade steel is somewhat soft and needs to be sharpened often. Especially if used regularly or on materials that quickly dull blades, like cardboard or landscaping cloth. Also the teeth of the serrations will wear down, as can be seen in the second picture. I don't consider either of those to be enough of detterent to not purchase this knife. Don't want to have to worry about those problems, you'll probably want to spend a fair bit more money. It's absolutely served me well.

well rounded knife
This is quite possibly the best knife in it's class. Very competitively priced, functional and aesthetically pleasing. (The knife I received yesterday actually had the black blade, which I think looks better than the silver one pictured here) The knife is very well balanced; very light and the clip fits snugly enough against the knife that when you clip the knife to your pocket, for example, you can be sure it is not going to fall out. The knife has an ingenious way of opening by means of flicking the rounded nub (visible underneath the knife when it is open) swiftly. This technique allows one to fully open and lock the blade in a matter of milliseconds; and I believe this is a vastly superior opening mechanism to any other knife in its class. (I also own the assisted opening Gerbers and this method is much quicker.) This method is also great because I am left handed and thus the knife is well suited to ambidextrous operation. In addition, when open, this nub provides a ridge which would potentially prevent your fingers from slipping from the handle onto the cutting edge of the blade. Very clever. Once opened the blade locks firmly into place and is not loose at all. The serrations are effective and the blade is reasonably sharp. All in all and excellent knife and worthy of your money. EDIT: I am not sure if this has always been an issue with the knife, however the lock doesnt firmly lock the knife into place. It clicks into place, however even with moderate pressure it is easy to close the blade without disengaging the safety lock. Disappointing
