Better than a rubber lid cap
Great product, easy to clean, but some cans have a wider opening, i.e. plastic cans, so need to hold it when pouring, but is non messy and easy to clean, unlike a rubber cap with a spout that goes on metal cans. Would buy again if needed. Must have to keep a paint can clean to reseal.

Spillage depends on size of paint can...?
I used this on a Sherwin Williams one gallon paint can and it did fairly well. There was some minor leaking between the gap in the bottom and the can. I did have to push down and hold it in place to prevent this, but overall I would buy it again. I prefer that over paint getting all over the side of the can and making an even bigger mess. Who wants that?!

The Original Is Tighter
I have a spot that I had for years and decided to order another of the same type. The orange and blue big box stores no longer sell this type in the store so I ordered this Shur-Line 06100 from Amazon. To my surprise after placing the old and new spouts side by side I discovered they are the exact model and brand. Every curve, line, etc. matches. See photos 1 and 2.This review is for my use with latex and acrylic paint only. I avoid using oil paint when possible. Both the old and new have Made In the USA stamped in the exact same location. See photos 3 and 4.For whatever reason the new pour spout is not as snug as the old one even with old paint on the old one taken into account. One star is deducted for this. Before pouring each time make sure the spout is firmly seated on the can and it will work just fine. Use two hands on the can and don’t use the handle to pour. Some reviewers commented the spout will get in the way when carrying the can. I agree. Use two hands to carry the can, not by the handle. The alternative is to get a shorter spout. You won’t find a shorter spout the goes around the entire can rim at the big box store (at least in my area) so try Amazon. This spout cleans fairly easy. I use a plastic putty knife to scrape off any dried paint. If you really want to get the spout cleaner follow up with plain water and a green scrubbing pad. I’ve used my old Shur-Line for many, many DIY paint jobs and did not have a problem with dried paint flaking off after giving the spout a decent cleaning even if some paint remained on the spout. Just make sure all loose paint has been removed before starting a new job.Overall when all is said and done this spout works well for me, keeps paint out of the can grooves and makes pouring paint simple.

Great
Easy to install and pour. Keeps can clean so the load will fit tight again if need be. Rinse under running water to clean and you will have it for many years.

Great when you are painting with gallon pails. No drips

Too Small
New version is slightly smaller in diameter and does not fit metal or plastic one-gallon cans. My older pour ring (same model number 06100!) fits all one gallon cans and I've used many different brands over the years. It's just not worth taking the chance of falling out while pouring!!!

Homeowner painter
Purchased to complement my 15-year-old spout. It actually seems slightly smaller than the older product, however, it will not seal on Sherwin-Williams cans without tape. The older product has a stiffer plastic, while this is softer and rubber-like. The other one snaps in the place and stays well, while this one popped off just by wiping the spout. BTW, the older one was made in USA. I like these spouts since there’s so much easier to clean up than the full can tops so I will continue to tape it down. Unless I find a different similar product and then this will be returned. I would not purchase again.

Great Product But Not for Newer Plastic Lid Gallon Paint Cans
This is a great product and is a real "mess saver", with one caveat. This pourer "snaps" firmly in place on standard 1-gallon metal paint lid cans, but it is a fraction too small (does not snap into place) for newer plastic lid 1-gallon paint cans (i.e. Glidden, Rust-Oleum). It can be used on these cans, but you must hold the pourer in place with your thumbs while pouring. This works, but is a rather dicey workaround. It would be nice if the manufacturer made this same product available, but in a newer model specifically designed for the newer plastic lid 1-gallon paint cans.
