This had everything I love in a book
This had everything that I love in a book! Romance, comedy, magic, fantasy, great world building and characters. I was laughing for most of this book because it was so hilarious!*spoilers ahead*I really liked both Wren and Rose. I connected with both of them on different levels. At first I thought that Shen and Rose had more chemistry than Tor and Wren did....but that was quickly remedied in the next chapter!I also loved Elske, Tor's "pet" wolf. She was a great addition! I wonder whether Tor will come back for her *cough*come back for Wren *cough* or if Wren and Rose will go to Gevra to get Banba back? I'm really excited to read book two and I hope that I don't have to wait for long! When Wren and Rose first meet face to face I loved how quickly they became close and acted like real sisters. I also love how fiercely protective they were of each other. There may be romance in this book for both sisters, but the true love in the story, I think, is the love between Wren and Rose, and sisters in general. And even though they were seperated for their whole lives, they still love each other and protect each other. When they got together, it was as if they hadn't been seperated at all.I like Celeste and how funny she is. She is such a great best friend to Rose! And I'm glad she was able to notice that Wren was an impostor. Like a true best friend would be able to!One thing that kept confusing me and annoying me is that anytime Wren and/or Rose tried to call off the wedding Rathborne, King Alarik or some other man was essentially telling them no and not letting them call it off. Like, isn't Rose the princess soon to be Queen? Isn't she ABOVE the Kingsbreath? Why did she have to do what he said no matter what? She should have just decreed as princess that the wedding was off!But it did make for a lot of crazy and funny mishaps! She also might have been better off speaking to Prince Ansel and telling him she wanted to postpone/call off the wedding.Speaking of Prince Ansel!!! :( I am absolutely heartbroken by what happened to him at the end of the book! He was so sweet and had an innocent like personality... I understand why King Alarik and Princess Anyka are wanting war with Eana now. Poor Ansel!!I loved this book and every moment of it! I paced it and took my time reading it because I didn't want it to be over. I am really excited to get my hands on the second book!!

Great Rom-Com Fantasy!
I had so much fun reading this book! Twin Crowns is a fantasy rom-com with plots that involve political intrigue and corruption. The book focuses on the sisterly bond between Wren and Rose, which is strong regardless of how they grew up in different worlds. It has a dual POV between Rose and Wren, and I'm a sucker for books with two MCs. Each sister has excellent character development as they swap places and experience how their sisters' lives are more complicated than they thought.(Mild Spoilers)Rose's character arc grows from a naive and unaware princess to a very capable leader as they learn more about the world she never knew existed and question how history was written towards witches.Wren's character arc starts as a determined and trained spy for witches who would sacrifice everything to complete her goal, to questioning if her methods are just as she meets others in her sister's court. The love stories for both sisters have rom-com vibes, which is a breath of fresh air after reading romance without comedic scenes. The book describes the conflict between sisterly bonds and fighting for the crown. As the story progresses, the sisters must decide what is more important: the crown or their sister. There is also a surprise twist towards the end that kept me on the edge of my seat.I highly recommend this book for young adult readers and lovers of romantasy!Rating:⭐⭐⭐⭐.5/5Spice: Very Mild (0.5/5)

Veeery YA
The book, however fun in the premice, feels underdeveloped and supperficial.Maybe it was just me, expecting a little too much from a YA novel, but the romances stay on the lovey-dovey un earned level, that just didn’t feel fleshed out.Apart from that, I really enjoyed the two female narrators in the audio-book version.

This was so fun! Literally made me laugh
Content warning; mentions of child abuse, emotional abuseRep: animal companions, slow burn romances, sisterly loveThoughtsNeutral thoughts:I honestly had a good time with this. It had me laughing out loud & kept me reading. This was cheesy & predictable, but I had a good time. I recommend this. I listened to the audiobook as I read along & it enhanced my experience. I am VERY curious to see what happens in book 2 after the ending, so I can't wait!Pros:I liked the lore in this! I liked how witches were at the core of the earth, the world & the magic (obviously). I feel like there's more to learn, but what we got in this was cool.I loved Tor & Shen. They had me CACKLING. Some of the best love interests that I've come across in a while & I can't wait to see more of them in book 2.Elske, Tor’s wolf. She was so cute & I loved her.The romance(s):I loved Tor & Wren. There is quite bit of angst that occurred between them at the end of the book & I am VERY excited to see what happens between these two.Rose & Shen were funny & I can't wait to see their relationship flourish.

Obsessed
Read this in one day. Such a good story!Wren is my new literary icon and just an all-around badass protagonist. I ADORED her storyline, and (somewhat?) illicit romance with a certain devilishly handsome guard.Rose was a little more ‘eh’ for me; her character was too blindly accepting, and far less relatable — with a pretty frustrating POV at some points — but I ultimately enjoyed her coming-of-age story. My only complaint is that this only just published and I need to know more!!!!?!? (I.e. WHEN IS BOOK 2 DROPPING PLS)

So good I instantly brought the second book the moment I finished.
Twin Crowns is the first book in this series of three written by Catherine Doyle and Katherine Webber and I thoroughly enjoyed this book so much so the minute I finished it I went straight online to order the second book!I am usually a romance reader but recently I have started to dip my toe into a few fantasy books but if I am honest I have struggled as I find the plentiful characters and unusual names and places all become a little overwhelming and mindboggling ( I am dyslexic so this could have an effect)BUT … I had absolutely no problems with this book at all, I sailed through it and can now say I have read a YA Fantasy that I absolutely loved. We are introduced to twin sisters Wren and Rose who live very different lives as they were separated at birth but whereas Wren knows of her sister Rose who is set to take the throne and become the Queen of Eana, Rose has no knowledge of her sister Wren who is about to threaten her claim to the throne in an attempt to save the lives of innocent witches. The storyline is so well structured with each character alternating between each of our two sisters and this allowed us to really get to know each of the girls well and see how their childhoods have differed and we learn they have both been told very different stories of why their parents were killed.Witchy fans you will love this one as this is a big theme in this book and this magical element was something that I really enjoyed as well as the little sprinkling of romance too. The book is fast paced and actioned packed and although it was clearly setting up for something big to come in the future books it didn’t feel like this book was holding anything back or lacking adventure in any way. There was also a great amount of humour weaved into the storyline too, thanks to supporting characters as well as our FMCs so this book really did tick all the boxes for me. Ideal start for those taking their first steps into the Fantasy world of books.
