Cole Porter Jazz Piano Solos Vol.30: Jazz Piano Solos Series Volume 30 (Jazz Piano Solos, 30)
M**"
Probably the Best Cole Porter jazz piano book in the World.......
More excellent arrangements by Brent Edstrom. Five stars for Brent, four stars overall. Was worth buying for the arrangements of Begin the Beguine, Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye, I Get a Kick Out Of You, I've Got You Under My Skin, and Let's Do It (Let's Fall in Love). I don't find many of the rest of the melodies that interesting, but if you like 'em, then I'm sure you'll enjoy Brent's arrangements......As usual, for intermediate or better players. Anyway, here's a list of the contents:•At Long Last Love (from YOU NEVER KNOW)•Begin The Beguine (from JUBILEE)•Dream Dancing•Easy To Love (You'd Be So Easy To Love) (from BORN TO DANCE)•Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye (from SEVEN LIVELY ARTS)•From This Moment On (from OUT OF THIS WORLD)•Get Out Of Town (from LEAVE IT TO ME)•I Concentrate On You (from BROADWAY MELODY OF 1940)•I Get A Kick Out Of You (from ANYTHING GOES)•I Love Paris (from CAN-CAN)•I've Got You Under My Skin (from BORN TO DANCE)•In The Still Of The Night (from ROSALIE)•It's All Right With Me (from CAN-CAN)•It's De-Lovely (from RED, HOT AND BLUE!)•Just One Of Those Things (from HIGH SOCIETY)•Let's Do It (Let's Fall In Love) (from PARIS)•Love For Sale (from THE NEW YORKERS)•My Heart Belongs To Daddy (from LEAVE IT TO ME)•Night And Day (from GAY DIVORCE)•What Is This Thing Called Love? (from WAKE UP AND DREAM)•You Do Something To Me (from CAN-CAN)•You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To (from SOMETHING TO SHOUT ABOUT)

Not what I expected
Just bought four of these jazz type books based on other reviews and I am sadly dissolutioned with the arrangements. I say this because I feel that B.E. input to them is just a minor influence with a few triplets and a few runs thrown in here and there. I have other books from Hal Leonard and I have compared the same songs and they are extremely similar in arrangements. I don’t hear any lush full sounds that you would hear from a pro jazz player which is what I thought I would get. I am 68 and played the piano for 60 years but never learned to play by ear or improvise or transpose and someone said in a review that these books give you just that without having to be able to do it yourself. Sorry but they are not what I was hoping for and I plan to return them if possible.
