Review: Best value waterproof jacket around - everybody should have one. - This is my 4th PreCip Jacket in 12 years...what can say... ...well the fit is a little closer that the last one of 4 years ago but not too much and is still about right for the size (large - I'm 6'2" 45 inch chest and 38 winch waist). Performance feel and toughness is great and it packs down to very little and weighs next to nothing. Fit is good benefiting from a good usable hoot and angel wing arm movement with just the right length in the sleeve. Performance and feel have improved over previous versions so this t one is even better that the earlier models. The venting options (pockets and pit zips make it great for a cycle touring jacket as you can always get good airflow. I have a full spec Event mountaineering jacket for Winter and the Alps but for everything else this is my go to jacket. I've tried the North Face, Patagonia and Montane equivalent jackets over the years but this one always wins out over the rest in terms of extended use performance and usability. Cant recommend it enough. Review: Great lightweight jacket - It's really light and excellent at keeping you dry, the collar works really well and the hood is even big enough for my gigantic head! The drawstrings on the hood and waist, as well as the cuff straps, work to keep rain out. The pockets are roomy and the whole thing actually looks alright as long as it isn't scrunched up. It's great for sporadic weather as it breathes really easily, so hot spots of sun aren't too much of a bother. Only minor gripe might be that in wind it's difficult to keep your face dry, I have to hold the hood peak down a bit. I think that's more because of the size of my head though, as I tend not to use the hood drawstrings too much as they bring the shoulders up and make my upper body look like a tent. Maybe with a smaller head you could do them up tighter to protect your face in the wind. Other than that though it's a great, lightweight, easily stowed jacket that looks great and works well.

Comfortable, Lightweight & Affordable. Could use a silicone spraying.
Great jacket. Took it with me to Japan last year and have been using it ever since whenever I go hiking and have to contend with some light rain and the like. Fares fine against moderate hail and snow, too. Packs down very *very* well and also acts as a good cover for your pack if you have to leave it out in the rain while camping and it's really spitting bullets. Only qualm is that the DWR coating/etc wore out obscenely fast and didn't work too well to begin with. The first time I used it near-zero in the rain and mist up a mountain, it soaked itself fairly fast, outside-in. Thankfully I can guarantee that it is indeed waterproof: dry as a fresh piece of toast on the inside. On another note, do not recommend for extreme amounts of rain or very *very* high wind. The thing will soak through and if your sizing is even a tiny bit off, proceed to flap around as if calling for a second descent of Christ.

This jacket has excellent reviews from various sources...
Excellent rain jacket... Is as described, waterproof, windproof, and breathable... The latter surprised me as waterproof jackets previously made me too hot... tbf they were cheaper brand. This jacket is definitely worth the money given its well over a year old, and due to quality and the amount of rain we get in UK it's cheap in the context l have a great rain jacket, l often wear a fleece under it when weather is cold and wet.... A decent rain jacket is definitely worth getting.. this is also packable..

Marmot Men's Pre Cip Jacket
Absolutely brilliant. Got mine for £34 and is worth every penny and more. Is fantastically light weight and can be compressed down to a very small size. The fit is great and the material is definately 100% waterproof, was caught in a very heavy downpour in the Cheviots yesterday and it kept me dry. The rain just beads right off as you would expect. The breathability of the jacket can be a possible issue. I wore just a t-shirt under the jacket yesterday and my actual body was fine but where my bare arms touched the insides of the sleeves I absoutely poured with sweat, it was literally dripping from my fingers as I walked. I would advise wearing something long sleeved under this as I will be doing next time and I know it will be spot on. Would definately recommend.

Very good product. Ticked all the boxes I required
Very good product. Ticked all the boxes I required. Light, packable, waterproof, breathable, packable hood, breathable, pit zips. Walking gear doesn't always look the most stylish of clothing, but this does look pretty good, in a cool looking slate grey. So, overall highly recommended.

More than a match for Irish weather
Borrowed my friend's Marmot jacket for a hike up Lugnaquilla and was glad I did... The rain was sideways and torrential but the top half of my body stayed bone dry (apart from my baselayer which was a bit sweaty but not because of the jacket). I bought myself one the next day and have used it twice since and it hasn't let me down. Great as a windbreaker as well as a rain coat. The hood is very comfortable and can be adjusted easily. My phone stayed bone dry in the pocket too. The armpit vents are a handy addition too and make a difference when it's warmer weather but still raining. 5 Stars all day everyday

Good but flawed for serious hiking
Lightweight and waterproof, packs down very small, perfect to put in your backpack in case of a downpour. The only thing that stops this being a proper hiking waterproof shell is the lack of a wired hood - the hood tends to sag over your eyes and flaps around in the wind which becomes an annoyance when on the hills. Also the zips are not waterproof although I haven't had any real issues with getting wet in this jacket as a result of this. I have also lost a couple of things (beanie hat, dog lead) through accidentally putting them into what looks like the internal mesh pockets - these are not pockets, they are open at the bottom!! So anything you inadvertently put in them drops straight out through the coat onto the ground. By the time you've realised your error.... gone. For the price it's a good item, but invest in something better (Rab, Paramo, Montane) if you are going to hike seriously with only one shell.
