ABUS Bordo Combo Lite 6150/85

I finally upgraded my lock. I am retired, so I ride primarily for recreation and for shopping. My locked bike is rarely out of my sight for more than a few minutes. I had been using a cable lock.I purchased U-locks for my children when they went to college. I have tried standard and long U-locks and U-locks with a beefy auxiliary cable. The U-locks work. We had 2 bikes stolen from 2 different campuses, but I think the first one was using a cable lock and the second was not locked to anything -- the bike disappeared and so did the lock. However, I find them difficult to use. It is hard to secure the lock around a tree or pole. The configuration needs to be just right to get that U-lock around the wheel, the frame and a pole or bike rack. Also, I have to line up the bar with the U-lock.I decided to try this folding lock because I hoped it would be a good compromise - almost as easy to use as a cabe and almost as secure as a U-lock.I am glad I selected this "lite" unit because it is still a bit heavier than my cable lock.My favorite feature is the rubber case that holds it to my bike. It looks great and I never ride off without it. I love not having to carry it in my pannier. I wanted to mount it on my seat tube, but there was not enough height to pull the lock out of the case. I had to mount it on the bar that leads from my cranks up toward my forks. My bike had the water bottle mounts in both places. I sometimes use my helmet chinstrap to hold my front wheel inline so it doesn't flop. The lock does not prevent this, but removing the helmet requires a little more focus as can become tangled with the bike lock case.Locking and unlocking my bike is a lot slower with this lock. I know because my husband is still using a cable lock and I used to be more efficient than he. In a couple weeks, I will probably be faster, but for now, I am still slow figuring out how to route the lock so that I can align the last link with the input side of the combolock, have the button on the thumb-side of my hand so I can press it, AND also be able to read the lock.I love not having to worry about carrying (or losing) a key, and aligning a key with a hole that is pointing toward the pavement is probably more difficult than getting the numbers aligned.I find myself just turning 2 cylinders by one click when I lock up because I know it will make unlocking that much easier. I turn just those 2 cylinders one click in one direction. If that doesn't work, I move them 2 clicks in the other direction. This probably isn't the most secure way to use this lock, but if you have poor eyesight like me, it works. I hope that, with time, I hope I will learn which direction to thread the lock provides the best visibility.In summary, I am proud of myself for getting rid of my old cable lock, and I love the way this lock bolts to the frame of my bike, but I find it a bit slow and awkward to get the lock on and off.

I was looking for a light weight lock that offered better protection than my cable lock and this fits the bill. The security rating on the lock is not high, but its a compromise I am willing to make for its lower weight, compactness and flexibility.

Lock works well, and I appreciate being able to mount to frame in my water bottle lugs. For me it is a simpler, contained solution for a weekend city biker.

For what it cost it's a little small. and I have the lite version, but not a lot of crime in my area, I love that it has a case that bolts to frame so you don't have to carry a heavy lock around, feels like good quality, but again is more of a deterrent than prevention.And with small size not a lot of options in places not bike friendly.

Sturdy, lightweight, and has a combination so there are no keys to lose!

Although the plastic cover was opened in the box, the item was not damaged and works well.Easy to install and apply.

I like the "link" concept, but the locking mechanism is very clunky and cumbersome to engage and disengage. For this price, I expected a smooth operating lock. It gets frustrating if you use it frequently.

Es gibt einige Rezensionen in denen berichtet wird, dass sich der Code verändert hat und das Schloss nicht mehr geöffnet werden konnte. Ich kann mir das jetzt auch erklären.Der Hebel um die Kombination zu verändern, ist auch in abgeschlossenem Zustand zugänglich und funktionstüchtig. Somit kann jederzeit jemand in einer unbeobachteten Minute zum abgeschlossenen Fahrrad gehen, den Hebel aktivieren und die Kombination verstellen.Somit kann zwar kein Fremder das Schloss öffnen, aber die Kombination so verstellen, dass der Besitzer das Schloss nicht mehr öffnen kann...Ein Designfehler der meiner Meinung nach nicht passieren dürfte. Jedes 10EUR Nummernschloss hat diesen Hebel so verbaut, dass er bei geschlossenem Zustand nicht zugängig ist. Das Schloss geht wieder retour.

Ich hatte es ja in den Rezensionen hier schon gelesen, wollte es aber nicht glauben und habe es trotzdem bestellt. Kaum war das Schloss da, konnte ich nicht widerstehen und habe es selbst probiert: Code eingestellt, Schloss zu gemacht, den kleinen Hebel wieder auf "Code einstellen" umgestellt - ja, das geht auch in abgeschlossenem Zustand! - und siehe da: das Schloss geht nicht mehr auf! Es ist also tatsächlich so, dass jemand den Code in abgeschlossenem Zustand verstellen kann, so dass der Besitzer es nicht mehr öffnen kann. Unglaublich...Schloss geht zurück, was dank amazon ja entspannt möglich ist.Mir unverständlich, wie ein solch schlechtes Produkt sich so gut verkaufen kann und sogar noch 4,x Sterne hat.

Die Bewertung ist relativ einfach. Bei dem als Schloss verkauften Artikel handelt es sich nicht um eine Diebstahlsicherung. Deshalb null Sterne. Aber da das nicht geht halt einen.Um das Schloss aufzuschließen muss man im geschlossenen Zustand den Stift zur Geheimzahl Einstellung nach rechts bewegen (zB mit einer Pinzette) , dann eine neue Geheimzahl einstellen (wichtig!), und schließlich den Stift nach links bewegen, dann geht es auf. Und der Dieb kann das Fahrrad mitnehmen. Man kann aber als Dieb auch ganz gemein sein und die Geheimzahl einfach verstellen. Und das Fahrrad da lassen. Dann bekommt es der Besitzer nicht mehr auf. Ich habe den Verkäufer auf dieses Defizit aufmerksam gemacht und eine Stellungnahme verlangt. Ich muss das Schloss jetzt zurückschicken und mir ein neues suchen. Ich komme mir ziemlich für dumm verkauft vor.

Man liest bei diesem aber auch anderen Schlössern immer wieder davon, dass Räder geklaut wurden, obwohl die Schlösser das ja verhindern sollen. Dann kommt der bekannte Spruch "hätte ich mal mehr Geld ausgegeben". Natürlich kann man das machen, aber was bringt das, wenn der Dieb statt 1 Minute dann ganze 3 Minuten braucht. Oder er hat eine Flex dabei und erledigt es in Sekunden. Wenn das Fahrrad teuer genug ist, dann sind die Mittel egal und es gibt genug Videos wo Schlösser auf der Straße geknackt werden und kein Passant was macht - selbst nicht mitten in der Fußgängerzone. Jedes Fahrradschloss ist in wenigen Minuten geknackt. Das muss man einfach akzeptieren oder mind zwei (verschiedene) Schlösser verwenden.Dann direkt zum Bordo Combo Lite. Gekauft habe ich es für meinen Sohn, da es was leichter sein soll und nicht gerade mit einem Mini-Bolzenschneider/Seitenschneider aufgehen darf. Und da Zahlenschlösser einfach mega praktisch sind, da man keinen Schlüssel verlieren kann, habe ich mich für dieses entschieden. Dass es schnell mit einem Bolzenschneider geknackt ist (wie auch andere), kann man übrigens im Youtube Video "RTPdqRkwwdk" sehen.Mein Favorit ist übrigens eigentlich das Seatylock, was aber technisch schlecht ausgeführt wurde (wackelt beim Fahren) und daher hoffe ich da auf eine Revision. Dann würde ich dieses kaufen, denn viele Fahrräder werden nicht für den Export gestohlen, sondern zum schnellen Verkauf an der nächsten Ecke um ein paar Euro in die Rauschmittelkasse zu spülen und wenn ein Fahrrad keinen Sattel mehr hat (weil mit Bolzenschneider zerstört). Mal sehen ob das Skunklock vielleicht der Flex paroli bietet, wenn es denn mal kommt (ach ja Crowdfunding wie es leibt und lebt).
