Brabantia Sort & Go Recycle Bin 40L (Light Grey), Space-Efficient Plastic Recycle Container with Handle, Removable and Stay-Open Lid, Easy to Clean Kitchen Bin without Nooks and Rims

i bought the 12L and 6L versions in jade; 12L review: Great little bin, fits inside a standard UK under counter cupboard easily, comes with door mount which is a robust plastic square in white ( you don't see it when the bin is attached) and short screws that screw easily into most wooden cupboard doors. The lid is fully removable making removing the bag easy plus it holds the bag in place. This set also comes with a couple of brabantia bin liners that fit perfectly however I have another one of these and use ordinary bin liners quite happily un it. The lid flips up easily and stays up so you can pop rubbish in easily and just flip it closed when you are done. The bin has a carry handle, which folds away in front of the bin neatly when the bin is attached. The bin is easy enough to clean if you have any mishaps. I do wish they would offer the bin in better colours, here the only options where black, white , grey and the pale pastel green I chose. My other one, bought about 8 years ago, was a lovely turquoise colour but that option doesn't seem to he available here. It arrived in just a thin plastic bag , luckily that was inside a bigger box with the rest of my order, however I thought I would mention it in case you are thinking of giving these as gifts. 6L review : I also bought the smaller 6l bin, which is perfect as a food waste bin , or as I will be using it, a tumble dryer fluff bin, and again comes with wall or door mount, however if you are popping it on a wall you might want to use the appropriate rawl plugs for your type of wall, which are not included ( i.e. if its stone you will need a different type of rawl plug than if its plasterboard, and the screws provided are wood screws as its designed to be attached to cupboard doors that are usually wood and grip easily, for walls you might like longer screws and rawl plugs). You can also buy these in pairs, handy for sorting recycling. The one I bought 8 years ago is still goung strong, it's been washed and manhandled hundreds of times and still solid, no wear and tear, so I am hoping this new one will do the same. The lid fits on two ways ( its a rectangle) so you can decide if you want it to flip up towards you or away from you, whatever suits you best. I prefer away from me. Hopefully this is useful.

This Brabantia bin is a simple, good quality and robust design. I haven't got room for a large bin in my kitchen but this one is a good compromise being a reasonable size that fits on the kitchen counter. I use mine for general kitchen waste but it would also work well as a recycling bin. The bin has a decent carrying handle and well-fitting hinged lid. It is designed to work best with Brabantia's own brand of bin liners and although those are more expensive than supermarket brands, they are definitely great quality. These are strong, have a tie handle, fit snuggly and give the bin a tidy appearance. The bin keeps pretty clean when using the matching bin liners but is also easy to wash and dry if needed. The liners can be got at a reasonable price if you buy in bulk but you can use supermarket brands instead albeit with some loss of quality. This bin is good quality and well-suited to my needs. It's not the cheapest price but it has lasted four years so far with no signs of wear and tear. I'm pleased with this purchase.

The Best things about this 3L bin are:- (a) very pretty feminine colour (jade) (b) exactly the right size to use as a bedroom waste bin, if you keep it on the bedside table or your dressing table. I’ve put mine on my desk in my study , because it’s so pretty and matches my jade curtains, and I’ve got rid of my ugly old floor-standing waste-paper basket. (c) the top is cleverly designed to hide the plastic bag (if you decide to line it with a mini bin bag). (d) it’s made of good quality sturdy recycled plastic . The Not so good things about this 3L bin are:- (i) although it’s advertised as a mini compost bin for food scraps, I think it’s too small for that purpose, even for someone living alone. For example if you want to put a melon rind or a couple of inedible green potatoes in it. (ii) the bin is not balanced. So when you open the lid, it falls over backwards. However, I am keeping the bin, and not returning it, because after experimenting, I’ve found two different solutions. Firstly you could keep the carry handle facing the front of the bin, to move the centre of gravity forward. (Personally I don’t like looking at the bin handle though.). Alternatively, you can put a weight in the bottom of the bin, underneath the plastic bag you’re going to line the bin with. An unopened tin of sardines, kept in the bottom of the bin, does the job, enabling you to flip the unsightly carry handle to the back without the bin tipping over.

Great little food waste recycling caddy for the kitchen. I used to have a similar council supplied bin but it was much bigger and taking up too much space, so I then bought a fancy looking metal one with a lift off lid which had holes in it and a mesh filter which was always a pain in the butt, because a) I often couldn't open it with one hand and b) fruit flies could get in through the holes in lid so I've had an epidemic of fruit flies this summer because of this other pesky bin, which was also metal and just started rusting all around the rim and lid! Awful design. I finally got rid of it and got this little bin which just opens and closes properly with a nice sealed lid when shut so the flies can't get in. Is a decent size but also being small forces you to empty it more often which stops it getting too smelly! Game changer - wish I'd chucked the other one out months ago! I just use standard kitchen caddy compost bags from the supermarket which are quite big for it but it means you've got plenty of bag to tie off easily once you remove the full bag.

I never thought I could love a trash can this much. Okay so it’s really overpriced, but it’s also pretty amazing. I bought this like so many others, as an alternative to the Litter Genie. I have 3 cats and 2 gigantic litter boxes that need daily cleaning. Enter this trash can. I decided on this because it does not need overpriced proprietary liners. It’s a trash can, and uses trash bags (the newer thicker shopping bags fit too). I decided to put to ability to hold smells to the test. I dropped the freshest of turds in this bad boy and shut the lid. You could not smell a thing! I have a VERY sensitive sense of smell and even standing right next to it, there was no smell. However prepare yourself once you open it, the smell is horrendous. That is to be expected. The smell doesn’t disappear, but it is expertly trapped. DO NOT open it with week old cat turds while standing right above it (you’re welcome). The handle is great, the lid does not snap shut, but rather sits on top. A smart dog could get inside it as could a toddler. I love it. I also have 2 dogs and use this to clean their “yard presents”. I plan on buying a second to dedicate for that purpose. I do wish the lid stood up on its own a little better but that does not diminish how great it is.
