I need a grill to fill the gap left in my kitchen cabinet between the oven/mw units and the cupboard right above (not the plinth) is this suitable?

I believe you can use it. Check if the size is correct and DIY

Is aluminium brushed or shiny?

The ones I bought were anodised grey, so they were neither brushed nor shiny.

Do these grills come in different sizes?

they come in 480 x 60mm and 480 x 80mm...but could be cut down to preferred length.

is this suitable for gas applications? I have a boiler in a cupboard that needs ventilation. Thanks

I believe so, it is a well made and neat product, BUT you need to ensure that you have sufficient square millimetres/inches in open slot area to meet regulation needs. Ask supplier to clarify square area available for each metre of vent strip. If you do not meet required vent area you put yourself/selves at risk. Good luck.
