I have taken lutein and zeaxanthin for my eyes for many years, having learned about these when my mother developed macular degeneration. Usually I look for about 10mg of lutein and 2 mg of zeaxanthin so I was pleased to see these listed but confused because all of the ingredients are listed under a proprietary blend with no individual amounts. I'm not sure how much of each is in the capsules but the other ingredients to support cardiovascular and neurological health was a bonus. The fact that they are made in the USA as well as the research and explanations of the formulation sold me on the product. The bright blue color threw me at first but it does make it easier to be sure I took the right dosage (2 capsules a day) when I take it with my other supplements. It is usually recommended that you take this type of supplement at mealtime as high fat content helps with absorption. I do notice a bit of a smell but since they are capsules they go down relatively quickly and easily so it's not a big thing. These are a little bigger than most so have a big glass of water ready.

Overall I think these are a pretty good supplement. While the ingredients are all solid, being that it's a proprietary blend it's hard to know how much of each ingredient is included to really make a good assessment. I like that it's made in the US, but I really would have liked to see it being third party tested or carrying the GMP stamp. Aside from that though it seems to be a pretty good option for reducing eye strain and hopefully protecting the longevity of my eyesight.

I've been lucky to maintain my vision all these years... especially given the fact that I spend so much time (for many decades now) looking at a screen. I do eye "exercises" and take supplements aimed at vision health, but ultimately I attribute it more to luck and good genes. As to this product, NeuropAWAY Eye Support Formula, I love 90% of the ingredients for eye health, but I have an extreme dislike for proprietary blends. Hence the one star drop. Now to the ingredients: Lutein and Zeaxanthin is said to help protect our eyes from harmful high-energy light waves like UV rays in sunlight. Studies apparently suggest that a high level of both these nutrients in eye tissue is linked with better vision, especially in dim light. I have taken these two for decades but by no means attribute my excellent vision to them. Dad had perfect vision right up until the end and never took the first supplement or even remotely ate healthy. Lycopene is stated to possibly help prevent or delay the formation of cataracts and reduce the risk of macular degeneration. N-Acetyl-L-Carnosine (NALC) is often promoted for the prevention and treatment of cataracts as well. Usually I see this in the form of eye drops, but I was not surprised to see it in the list here as well. The concentration of glutathione in the lens of the eye is higher than in most other tissues. Oral supplements of N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC)and alpha lipoic acid (ALA), the latter not in this supplement, have been show in studies to help increase tissue levels of glutathione in the eye. S-Acetyl L-Glutathione (S-A-GSH) is said to be a highly orally bio-available glutathione variant, where the addition of an acetyl function group to the glutathione molecule helps it to remain intact when ingested, which then allows it to pass through the blood-brain barrier. In addition to its role on the eye, it has been shown to support neuron health, liver function, and immune system health. I will continue to take these fancy blue capsule at one capsule a day, as I already take most of the ingredients individually. Likely will re-order... we will "see".
