Light and portable automatic flash
This is an excellent powerful compact flash from Nikon which used the iTTL system so the flash is controlled completely by the camera so one has a 95% chance of getting a properly exposed flash photo. The unit is totally controlled by a suitable Nikon Cameras (I use D3500) even including switching off the unit when the camera goes into stand-by mode and on again when the shutter is pressed half-way. Used with a variety of Nikon lenses it seems to be almost foolproof. You can angle it up for bounced flash to give more even lighting. There are no controls on the unit except an on/off switch, everything is worked out by the camera and flash so you can concentrate on taking the photo.Expensive but well made and highly recommended, it comes with its own small soft carry bag, and fits in the palm of your hand. Being light and compact it is ideal for everyday carrying about.

Very good flash - no complaints at all
Despite a few poor reviews from photography "experts" online, I really like the SB300. I use it on a D3200 and an F6 and it bounces flash very effectively, almost as effectively as my SB600. Overall, I am very pleased with it. On new batteries, the recycle time is perfectly fine in real life - the odd second here and there is insignificant in real applications which the SB300 would be used for.Small, compact, well finished and good value.

Not as bad as the reviews would have you believe
After reading the online reviews of this little speedlight, I wasn't expecting much. But I needed a flash for a family party at a club the next day and couldn't spend too much - so I thought I'd give it a go. To my surprise I'm pleased with my purchase. The build quality seems ok and it came with a pouch to store the flash in. In terms of performance, I got about 90-100 pictures before the recycle time dropped somewhat. That's using Duracell Power Plus batteries. I've got some cracking pictures at ISO 400 using my Sigma EX HDM lense. So much better than using the built in flash - not as harsh. Bouncing the light from the ceiling really helps. Overall, not a bad little speedlight for a hobbyist. A big step up from using the built in flash, that's for sure.

It works
Have not used in anger yet. Tried around house and garden. Seems to work OK. Basic point and shoot. Just what I was looking for. No pop up flash on my camera. And it's nice and small and light.

ooh! lovely
I couldn't afford the really expensive Nikon speedlights.I thought the SB-400 was a bit clunkyIt's like Goldilocks and the three bearsthe SB-300 is just right. It's compact, It's intelligent, It's not too expensive.and so far I've had really, REALLY good results with it.but of course I'm basing this review on my own, flawed, amateurish, pictures. You have to buy the SB-300 and try it for Yourself !

Brilliant piece of kit
Wanted a small compact flash to go with my Nikon D500 which does not have a built in flash. I only use flash very occasionally so this fits the bill nicely. It's much smaller than expected and will fit easily in my rucksack for when I do need one. Like others have said, a bit pricey but you get what you paid for.

The product is very good value for money ( I bought it on offer ...
when the flash arrived I was a little dubious about the size and thought maybe it would only work on close ups but I was wrong I have used this out doors as a fill in flash and in doors bouncing it off the ceiling . The product is very good value for money ( I bought it on offer at a reduced price) and works very well. all in all I am very pleased with it and can highly recommend it
