Xbox One X / Logitech Harmony User Review
Xbox One X / Logitech Harmony User ReviewAfter a bit of a nightmare with the Hermes delivery, I finally got my new 4K Philips up and going, and have spent the past three days playing with the settings and trying to get it to my liking. There are so many settings in random places it is difficult to know where to find them, so to help others I will include my settings at the bottom of this review.First, unboxing and standard setup – standard fare, although three points to note – I believe my TV stand was originally made for 32” TV’s, but my previous 50” sets stand fit comfortably on it. However, the stand on this TV only JUST fits on – the width of the stand here is 80cm, so bear this in mind if you have a small stand. Next, the power lead is detachable, and uses the same “8” shape as a PlayStation, which is a plus. My main negative when setting up was finding that the optical port for audio is very loose – its in and working for now, but a slight knock will disconnect it. I tried two different cables and both were loose, so I am not happy about that… but I’ll live with it.Once set up, I tested the main reason I bought this TV – the Xbox One X. Having read prior comments and reviews, I connected the Xbox to HDMI2 to be able to get the most out of the TV (HDMI1 only outputs at 30Hz, apparently). Picture looked fantastic, but running the Insects demo I noticed that HDR was not enabled. In settings, this was confirmed. After a bit of trial and error, I found that you MUST enable the following settings on both the TV and the console:TV: Settings > Picture Style > GameTV: Settings > General > HDMI Ultra HD. Change to 4:2:2Xbox: Display Settings > Enable YCC 4:2:2With that, HDR was enabled. I then found that the Xbox One had a handy calibration tool to help setup the TV, so once I had set up the HDMI2 input, I used these settings to help calibrate the other inputs (Yep, each input has its own settings). I will include my settings below to help anyone who does not have access to a calibration tool to help with setting up their TV, remember these are to my preference:Settings > All Settings > Picture >Colour = 75Settings > All Settings > Picture > Contrast = 90Settings > All Settings > Picture > Sharpness = 0Settings > All Settings > Picture > Brightness = 55Settings > All Settings > Picture > Advanced > Computer = OffSettings > All Settings > Picture > Advanced > Colour > Colour Enhancement = OffSettings > All Settings > Picture > Advanced > Colour > Colour Temperature = CustomSettings > All Settings > Picture > Advanced > Colour > Custom Colour Temperature = 128 (All)Settings > All Settings > Picture > Advanced > Contrast > Contrast Mode > Optimised for PictureSettings > All Settings > Picture > Advanced > Contrast > Dynamic Contrast > OffSettings > All Settings > Picture > Advanced > Contrast > Video Contrast > 100Settings > All Settings > Picture > Advanced > Contrast > Gamma > 0Settings > All Settings > Picture > Advanced > Sharpness > Ultra Resolution > OffSettings > All Settings > Picture > Advanced > Picture Clean > Noise Reduction > OffSettings > All Settings > Picture > Advanced > Picture Clean > MPEG Artefact… > MinimumSettings > All Settings > Picture > Advanced > Motion > Motion Styles > OffI had a quick play with some of the Smart features – the OS is slow, but I’m not expecting much from a TV OS – I will access most content from other devices, such as my Xbox. But, all the catchup software is here, and seemed to work pretty well. The Network option also found media servers on my network with no issue, which was a big plus – although I found that most of my video files are encoded in .MP4 format, and the TV reads these as music files. MKV and WMA, however, mostly played fine. Finally, I have spent hours trying to get my Logitech Harmony remote working with this – the 6272 model is not listed, so I used the 6262 model instead. All functions work, however the Harmony can not change sources, which is a pain. I found that the source list does not cycle round when you reach the top or bottom of the list, so the workaround I used was to manually create turn-off activities to press Source > delay 1 sec > Direction Up ten times, then Direction Down > Delay > Direction Down > OK. This selects the Antennae input before the TV shuts down, so when I start another activity, it always has the same starting position.Overall, a very nice TV. A bit of a pain to get going but once you get it to your liking it seems to perform as well as TVs costing more than double this. Disappointed with the loose Optical In port, not sure if this is just on this unit but I’ll live with it. Four stars.

Total bargain and highly recommended TV!
The good:+ Nice, punchy colors+ Perfect blacks+ No backlight bleeding+ Sound is more than adequate+ Ambilight is flawless,+ Build quality is top-notch.The bad:- To deliver perfect picture results, you have to read 1-2 reviews how to setup the TV, as out of the box screen just looks awful. Don't know why Philips didn't bother with this one for just basic calibration.- Remote-pass through works only with 1 active HDMI device connected to the TV (ex. IPTV box and Chromecast connected, in order to power-off the TV with IPTV remote, chromecast should be in sleep-mode)- Not as smart as LG or Samsung and sometimes a bit iffy menu speed.- VA screen - not as wide viewing angles as IPS.In order to get HDR working with Windows 10 PC and AMD GPU, need to have W10 Creators update, set 12bpc and YCbCr 4:2:2 Pixel Format under AMD Settings-Display. In Windows display options, HDR set to On, and 60hz should be selected. PC should be connected to HDMI 2 or 3, as HDMI 1 only supports 30hz in 4k. Windows 10 will still have washed out colors in desktop, but HDR youtube, games, movies works perfect. For gamers, there is OTA firmware update (through the TV menu) to eliminate input lag in HDR gaming mode, and after the update lag is very low (25-30ms). Minimal ghosting, perfect for fast paced games.Overall: Total bargain and highly recommended TV! There is simply no competitor to it at this price category (under 500)! Well done Philips!

Very solid performer, good value
You get a lot of TV for just over £500 here. I just replaced a 10 year old 1080p plasma (which drew 420watts!) for this which is 4K, has HDR and is super power efficient (just 65watts). The picture is generally excellent. Small gripe - I've seen modern screens with more punchy. Viewing angles are good. It does also take a bit of calibrating - the picture seemed very green to my eyes until I played around with it. Once calibrated, the 4k HDR picture really is something in a £500 TV. Finally, ambilight takes a bit of getting used to (I turned the brightness of mine down from 10 to 5), but I does make a more immersive experience.

This TV is poor quality and Phillips customer service is poor too...... see my review
Although be warned I have this model of TV and they can have banding issues (thick transparent lines across the screen, it is horrible to watch at times. Also you cannot change the settings (ie brightness, colour etc) for each HDMI input. So if you have 2 4K HDR sources on two inputs the settings are the same and cannot be changed I have had many discussions with Phillips about the "banding" and they were unwilling to help me saying that the fault is not within the warranty terms. When I asked for a copy of the "warranty terms" they would not provide it. I have been a fan of Phillps for many years I have a 12 year old 42" LCD which is still going strong to this day but I have lost all faith in there products

i have tried fine tuning on the settings
The ambilight is a beautifull touch and works together really well with the t.v.subscibed to nexflix and the true power of the 4k UHD shines through watching movies, played my PS4 pro on it,again 10/10 quality picture. And then started watching my freeview channels via my antenna, and I have noticed no difference in picture quality,i have tried fine tuning on the settings,oh well il keep trying.

Really disappointed
After a few months of ownership I feel like I have had long enough to say this TV is rubbish! It continually crashes, loses audio that requires a reboot to get back and some of the apps are literally unusable, basically no input from the remote and these aren't obscure apps by tin pot companies. Overall I'm really disappointed with this TV, especially after reading the reviews about it, the only saving grace is the picture quality is good, as is the price.
