I’ve got Craftsman, Milwaukee and Stanley tapes. This Dewalt tops them all. I can’t find anything that I don’t like about this tape. It is sturdy and has impressive stand out ability at nearly 11 feet. It is smooth with great retraction. I’ll buy another one when this one ever gives up the ghost.

Doncha hate when you extend the blade of your tape measure, and you're pretty sure it will stay rigid for the distance you need, but it collapses under its own weight? Well, this one goes 9 feet before that happens. It won't quite do 10 feet but it tries pretty hard. 9 feet is better than the one I had before, and it's probably better than whatever you're thinking of replacing. Feels solid. Locks well. Retracts quickly and smoothly. Markings are easy to read. Matte finish so reflections don't make it hard to read. I'm happy. One thing I failed to notice: The price for a "pack of 2" is exactly the same as buying one, twice. I assumed it was a deal.

Really nice tape measure. Very heavy and you can tell it's a DeWalt! My complaint (which cost a star on the review) is the GD packaging. I needed a screwdriver and a box cutter to just try to get into this thing. I mean, I can see the thing, I just can't use it. I don't know who came up with the idea in the board room to make it nearly impossible to get this out of the packaging, but I hope there were relieved of their duty. I can't even imaging a guy on a construction site with a deadline getting his new tape measure in and standing there on a high-rise beam trying to get this thing out of the package. It's utterly ridiculous. It took me about 7 minutes just to get it out of the Fort Knox security package. I had paper and plastic all over my workbench and nearly sliced off my finger twice. And I bought two of these things so I had to do that twice. So WHY do they make it that way? Can't DeWalt just have a nice easy open package? Who's idea was this and can I please have a word with them? Perhaps one day someone will read this and know the person that came up with this idea and forward this on to them so they know the pain they caused. Or even better, maybe Mr. DeWalt will one day stumble upon my review and see my frustration and get the packaging fixed so we as the consumer won't have to have physical therapy or a visit to the emergency room just to measure a lamp.

This DEWALT tape measure feels noticeably better than cheaper ones I’ve used. The tape pulls out smoothly without sticking or jerking, and it has enough rigidity to extend a good distance without bending or collapsing. The locking mechanism is solid, so you don’t need to constantly hold it in place while measuring, which makes the job faster and more convenient. The casing feels tough and durable — it’s clearly built to handle job sites, drops, and rough use. The markings on the tape are also very clear and easy to read, even in low light. The retracting speed is controlled and safe, so it doesn’t snap back too aggressively like some lower-quality tape measures.

I've gotta say, this Tape feels super rugged in my hand, and the blade itself is nice and solid with zero flimsy wobble. It's also two sided and solid. Just heads up it's slightly heavy (7.7m).
