I love this copy of the hobbit! Plenty of pictures andcduper quality paper make reading this classic so pleasant. Two very good maps also. A must!

Fantastic written book by the great Tolkien still amazing and still fabulous to read

A beautifully produced edition of a well known & much loved classic fantasy book. JRRT's original illustrations plus notes/sections of handwritten manuscript. The Hobbit: IMHO; the best book of the collection & a good "stand alone" story - Lord of the Rings... I was losing the will to live well before the end - sorry JRT, I'm in agreement with C. S. Lewis (I think it was), who was reported to have said: Not more effing elves!"

I couldn’t wait to get this edition of the book, considering I have the same version for Lord of the Rings. I was very excited to see the maps as well but I only had one arrive with my book. I checked on YouTube at other people who had got the book and there are supposed to be two maps, so I’m a little disappointed that I don’t have one of the maps, but the book is stunning.

This is, I think, probably my fourth or fifth re-read of The Hobbit and it was still as enjoyable as my first time to encounter it. It can be read on several levels and that is, for me, one of the great things about it. It can be just a story, a cozy tale or a reflection on life in all its complexity.

Very nice edition. But be careful and double check when you receive it. In my case, it arrived with its cover a bit damaged, and there was only one of the two maps. When I asked to replace it, I was sent a new copy, which had its two maps. I am assuming they initially tried to give me a copy that had already been returned, with a missing map.
