When will I learn?
I use my printer for my small business, so it gets more use than most home printers but still less than 10 prints a day. I purchased this drum to try and correct a problem I had where a couple of printed blobs were left at the side of every page. And, for a few days, all seemed fine. Then the printer started producing faint prints which, since they were for online postage, were not fit for purpose. I should point out that my printer didn't produce a low ink error, when it usually does. Swapping out the new drum for the old revealed that the ink cartridge had been marked and this was causing the faint areas on the print. At less than a 5th of the price of an original Brother drum unit this purchase seemed too good to be true. Having purchased compatible ink cartridges before (from another manufacturer) I've experienced the bitter disappointment of products that look the part but only last a matter of days. But at under £12 what could I lose? The answer was, unfortunately, £12 (in a matter of days ) and the previously fine ink cartridge now also needed replacing. Total cost for original parts = £110 plus the lost £12 = a £122 total bill. Thanks!

Cheap, and we're cheerful
The compatible DR2200 drum was only a fraction of the price of a genuine Brother drum and appears to do the job well. We've had no issues since we fitted it in our HL-2250DN. You may want to reset the drum counter on the printer when you fit the new drum, and I found several references to this on the internet - I won't specify the method used as it probably differs from printer to printer, but it was quick and easy!A good purchase.

Toner good but drum poor
I’ve scored the drum unit poorly. The quality of the drum is very poor and I’ve had printing problems caused by it, streaks and jams. The toner is good and lasts over 1200 pages. Will say though that the seller was great and replaced the drum foc but that one wasn’t good either. I’ve now bought a genuine one because I use business stationery and it was spoiling.

Good value
I had a blemish on the drum of my printer, resulting in a spot appearing every few inches down the printed pages. I purchased a new drum and toner. It was easy to swap, and so far so good. Obviously this is much cheaper than the Brother OEM spares, and it comes with a three year guarantee. It would be even better if it came with advice on how to recycle the old parts. My local council will take them but it's a bit of a journey!

Ticks all the boxes
A lot cheaper than having it refilled at the local cartridge planet shop. All I had to do was go on line to learn how to reset the drum warning message and then job done. For HL printers:Change the drum, keep the front door open while the printer is on;Press and hold the “GO” button until all lights are lit;Once all light are lit, release the “GO” button and close the front door;Make sure the drum light is off;The counter is reset.
