your isue is an odd one! make sure the jack input is live, do this by hand, and that its not on full or off. then try diffrent jack sockits this may help you, if this fails drop the seller a line. thay have helped me before, one more thing make sure that you have your tv settng set for tv, and look at the manul page, then check you have the same connections on the BACK OF YOUR VS 1200, if not copy them one for one no mater what is says on the vs1200, if there not a match as seen in the hand book it will Malfunction best wishers Archie

Q: How to get rid of an echo when singing

There is an echo or reverb knob that you turn to increase or decrease the amount of reverb on the front of the machine on the microphone A or B channel strip fully over to the minus symbol would take away any echo and towards the plus to increase

There are individual volume controls for each mic - if not check both mics are pushed in fully or it may be a fault with your connection into the TV or speaker system if hi are not using HDMI

I don't know if this helps, but what I did was to attach the hdmi cable, then the mics, adjust the volume on the TV to an average setting (make sure the volume on the 1200 is also on an average setting). Then select the appropriate input setting on the TV remote. Ensure the mics are on and start up. You can then adjust the volume to suit your needs. Mine worked fine and hdmi will always give you the better sound and vision quality. Good luck.
