I am not sure where it is packed but from the description, I think this one is shipped from Britain, which means it does not have the individual packages for each tea bag. The bags come in two wrapped in a foil packages with 50 tea bag in each.

Q: Is this tea the same as the Earl Gray in American stores in yellow boxes?

No, it's not. The black and purple box is the U.K. blend, and the yellow box is the blend for the U.S. I contacted Twinings through their U.K. website and they confirmed the blends are different. They said they use different blends for different markets because "Americans don't like" the more flavorful U.K. teas. I, however, DO much prefer the purple box U.K. Earl Grey.
