Philips SA4VBE08KF/37 GoGEAR Vibe MP3 Players - Black

I had a number of JUNK MP3 players from Wal-Mart, same thing sold at Best Buy and other stores. They all had very uncomfortable ear buds, lousy sound reproduction and worst of all, NONE KEPT A CHARGE! Plus they all had such small screens that you couldn't see the tiny words and none could be read outside of a dark room. I returned the junk players to Wal-Mart for refund and paid more for this little gem, it's still plenty small but the sound quality is good and the screen is large enough to be able to read,. even in subdued daylight outside. Easy to operate and it holds a huge amount of music. I use it for cycling and take long rides (4 hours plus) and this beauty will play through several rides without a recharge. Load songs from your computer, the unit includes conversion software which works quickly and perfectly. I would recommend this unit over anything else I've seen and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg like the Apple products.

I wanted something that held more music. This was pretty much what I was going for. For the price this thing is pretty amazing. If music and audiobooks are your sole objective, this thing will definitely get the job done. I've been using Philips mp3 players for a while now and am generally satisfied with their products. That said there are some cons I find about this thing. First off some of the features. There is no recording system. Downer for me because I actually use that function. And if this is supposed to be a newer model then I think that should have been a feature. Next is the volume. Compared to an older model I have, the peak of this model's volume is pretty low. I know there is the whole sound safely concern but that's why you have volume control. I'd of like to have an option. Oh gosh and then there is the battery. I've found that it does not last very long compared to my other model. I do believe that this is due to not being able to control the brightness of this device. Because this brightness is always on maybe that is why the battery goes faster. The option to adjust brightness is not there anymore. These may or may not be problems but I have managed to work around them at any rate. Overall, I would recommend this mp3 player to anyone who just wants an easy to use music player. If you don't want an expensive iPod or cheap made in China junk, this is one of the best things you can get. Pretty good deal.

2 fewer buttons than previous version. Took some getting use to. Operation issues still exist though. If leave in the middle of a podcast to listen to the radio for example, you have to navigate all the back, and it does not resume, but starts at the beginning. No progressive scan to easily return half way in to 1 hour podcast. I usually only listen to podcasts in order, but won't use it for anything else now because I'll lose my place. Otherwise, it's a great player! No glitches or problems with what it is suppose to do. Love the small size and long battery life. Sound quality is great. You have to use a good pair of buds to hear that. I threw out the ones that came with it. Good price for what I got, and I got what I expected.

I really like this MP3 player because it is easy to use. You can simply plug it into your computer with the USB attachment, and drag and drop whatever songs you want on to it, and off it back on to your computer. No special adapters needed. No special programs needed (such as iTunes) to copy music files. Actually allows you to move songs from the device to other devices without needing to go through some long, complicated process. Apple iPods require you to do all of those things...and they cost more than twice as much. It is compatible with everything, unlike iPods. And the quality does not suffer with this unit, just because of the low price. I use mine all the time, leave it hooked up in my vehicle when it is really hot, really cold, damp, every condition you can imagine and it works great every time I turn on the car. So it doesn't have a touch screen...well I actually prefer buttons to a touch screen when handling an item this small.

In 2012, I purchased another version of this MP3 player SA4VBE08K/37, the same thing without the F in the model number. I gave it 4 stars. It is still working well so I decided to purchase another and found this one at a decent price. This version has some differences that I've noticed so far that are cons as far as I can see. Other than that, so far they seem to work pretty much the same. This one lost a star due to the changes. 1. The on/off button is not on the top like the other one, but shares the center play / pause button. If not pressed right, it doesn't work to turn the product off or on, you may just end up pausing or playing the song or it may not turn on at all. Not a big deal but a little inconvenient. 2. The lock function, instead of sharing function with the on/off button like the other version, shares function with the menu button. Again, not a big deal but I like the function on the top button better. You might end up locking the device instead of getting to the menu like you wanted. 3. The color and background schemes are different, which really doesn't matter to me. 4. The bottom menu on the other unit shows "Last played" while this model is "Now Playing". Otherwise the main menus are the same. 5. This version is missing the Date and Time sub menu in the Settings main menu and the PC connection preferences sub menu The folder view menu doesn't have the Playlists sub menu in this model.

But sadly, the enter button, which also serves as the power button did not work consistently in some menu functions. In other menu functions and for power on/off, it worked fine. Pretty frustrating. The problem was mainly with selecting albums, tracks to play or to put into playlists. It got to the point, I would hold the button down and wait until it almost powered off, then ~50-60% of the time the button would work for the given function. It was just not acceptable. I bought this having used the same model a friend loaned me, but the 'newer' model I got was slightly different: no dedicated power button. Somehow combining power and enter button functions must have made it less reliable, or maybe I just got a bad one. Sadly, when I went to order another unit, I could no longer find any for the $39 I paid ... now they are $58. Forget it, I'll wait for something else at that price point.

If you are looking for a simple mp3 player able to support playlists, this is the one for you. After much research, not wanting an ipod, or to spend massive amounts of money for the Samsung Galaxy Player, I am happy to say, Phillips has a GREAT product for the price. I have the 4 gb GoGear Vibe, and am happy with that, but was looking for a bit more memory. I tried the Sansa Clip, but the playlist function didn't work like the manufacture said it should. This is an easy player to move music around on (I use WMP) and the sound is beautiful. I am extremely happy with my purchase!

This is the 3rd mp3 player that I have purchased specifically for listening to audible books, the first of this brand. My husband wanted something that didn't need to be fussed with a lot at work if someone stopped to talk to him. I've been loading his books and it is so much easier than what he was previously using. This player is working really well for him wish I had tried it the first time. Mike didn't want to use an arm band so I purchased a luggage tag, to put it into. The player was just the right size to fit (there are water proof bags for phones that are way to big to be comfortable for regular wear). With the luggage tag he can see the player, and the plastic front of the tag is pliable enough for pushing the buttons. The loop that is designed for attaching to luggage can either be attached to his keys and hung outside his pocket or attached to the belt loop. He has put the player in upside down so he can just lift it up a bit to look at it, and has the benefit of putting the plugs at the open end of the sleeve.

This is a great player especially for the price. The sound quality is very good and it is easy to load music organize into play lists and so forth. The volume limiter is a little annoying especially if you ar using it in a gym where they already play very loud music since you may have difficulty hearing this music over their music. The charge lasts as well as advertised or better in my experience. I would definitely purchase this again.

I have had a lot of MP3 players and this is the best one for easy to use and to put music on . if something happens to it I will be purchasing another one just like it.

Sehr gutes Produkt. Einziger Nachteil, das Vorgängermodell GoGear MP3 konnte mit Windows Mediaplayer auch die selbst erstellten Wiedergabelisten synchronisoeren. Geht bei diesen Gerät leider nciht.

Good product. Sometimes the volume on some songs are lower then others, otherwise it works well.
