First time grooming my dogs
I thought long and hard about getting clippers for my dogs as I was worried I would do a terrible job, but at £55 each every 6-8 week, I thought I’d give it a go. I went with this one for the lower noise level, as my rehomed dog is scared of the handheld vacuum, and as a beginner I didn’t want to spend too much money if self-grooming wasn’t for me. I found the clippers a nice size and weight to hold, the plastic guards clicked on and off no problem, make sure you hear the ‘click’ when you attach or it will fall off. My rehomed dog skittered off the first couple of times I showed her the clippers and turned it on, but my other dog, who I have to hoover around, didn’t mind it at all. Clipping-wise, the first pass was not always enough I had to pass 3-4 times until there was no more to cut, on the legs it seemed harder to ‘gather’ the hair into the guard and take some off, had to pass several times. But it could be my technique as I was doing it for the first time, and since it was my first try I ran out charge and had to work off of the mains. As my dog’s fur has a slight curl (Maltese) I did find the clipper did catch in places and not glide through smoothly, he had been brushed beforehand, and I had to take off the guard to clean the blade several times as hair was caught inside. He got bored of standing and laid on his side whilst I tried to finish him off, so he definitely was not bothered by the sound. My second dog has straighter fine hair (Maltese) it was much easier to glide through but still clogged up the blade so I did have to clean it a few times. She got more tolerant of the clippers but would still try to use her head to butt it away, or sit down, turnaround etc. I did do both dogs, an hour each, but I’m already thinking I need to upgrade my clippers especially for the one with curlier fur, as it would probably cut smoother and quicker. Not bad to use for a beginner like me, gave me confidence to try again, and good for in-between professional grooming appointments, especially in hot weather when you can’t always get an appointment quickly. But I don’t think it will be as effective for thicker curlier coats. As I said I am thinking to upgrade already after my first attempt on relatively straight fine hair, but good to have especially if she will tolerate this one’s sound/vibration level.

Tough little clipper.
As an ex- hairdresser I am used to clippers I'd use in salons I'd worked in (many years ago now). But I'm left astonished at what you get for the price, and the included equipment.Obviously some noice from it, but minimal compared to the clippers I'd use. Good selection of useful combs and very easy to customise each comb through the dial, giving maximum control of how short or close you want to clip your dogs fur.Sizzers are excellent for using on your dog's, and has blunted ends for extra safety, unlike human hair sizzers which are very pointed at the ends, for the whole price, I'd personally would say the whole kit is a bargain. Very impressive kit, very tough and sturdy, nice to hold, doesn't get hot, unless you don't use a comb, then you'd need to frequently monitor the temperature, which I did whilst clearing her toes and pads of fur (much safer in the height of grass seed season to keep watch on a clear pad). And very pretty too. Once sterilised, I'd use these on a human family member, no problem.

Used on a Cocker Spaniel.
I got my first show cocker who is of course adorable. Living in the country, she spends all day running round in the muddy fields with her adopted brothers.I decided it would be a good idea to clip her legs and tummy so she looks more like a Cocker and less like a dirty mop. These clippers were ok for the job.I used them plugged into the mains as I have never clipped a dog before and expected it to take a while. I have not yet tested the battery function. They will not clip through knots. You must make sure the dog is brushed through. Having said that I was surprised how well they did once I got the hang of it, considering the low price.Oil them well before starting (oil supplied) and stop from time to time to brush out the fluff from the clippers using the little brush provided.I found the clippers did well on the legs against the direction of growth. They were also good on the tummy.I don't think they would be as good if you wanted to cut the long hair on a Cocker's back. If you wanted an all over clip it might be better to get the first clip done by a groomer. For me, I wanted to keep my Cocker's top coat long and also keep the chest feathers and 1980s bouffant fringe as I think these things are so beautiful on this dog.Now this is turning into a Cocker Spaniel review rather than a clipper review. Apologies. To summarize; I would recommend these to pet owners who want to tidy up their dog from time to time. They are not professional grade but are useable and reasonable for the price.

Good quality
It works great on one of my two dogs. It is perfect for my Cavapoo fur but doesn’t work on my Maltipoos fine hair. Still glad I bought it.

Worked great
Clippers are great and easy to use! The scissors were just a bit blunt which was disappointing

I suppose it works.
I've got two Pomeranians and I only wanted to clip their back end for when they number two. It's quiet, they don't keep still,so good job it's easy to use. It does the job. I like all the extra bits you get with it too.

Great
After being disappointed buying some more expensive branded clippers, which I returned, I purchased these and they are great. I have a cavapoo and his hair is a fine curl which is thicker in parts and these clippers easily cut through his hair. For a cheap clipper they feel very solid and they are very quiet. Scissors are nice and sharp and easy to use also. Very pleased and saved me £70
