Hornby Gauge RailRoad LNER BR Mallard Class A4 Locomotive, Green1128-2

I bought this knowing it was a railroad budget model, therefore I did not expect it to be as well detailed or accessorised as a more expensive model. It runs really well and is quiet with little or no motor noise. Anyone buying this expecting a display quality model needs to shake their head. Maybe they would expect to pay a mini price for a porche, so to judge it by that criteria is wrong. Very pleased and it doesn't look bad at all on the track where the detail isn't that noticeable anyway.

A4 is brilliant because it’s simple design and hard to tell the difference between this and the detailed version when running on track. Runs well and smooth, great addition to the railway

very good but have had problems with front bogie wheels as many people on line have had did not like some points or fish plates changed to electro points and peco fish plates

This engine has exceeded our expectations. Many of the larger engines seem to struggle on our track but this flies around and is good at staying on the rails

The detail is superb. Price reasonable and order processed quickly and efficiently. A beautiful addition to my steam locomotive collection.

My anticipation and expectation to receive "The Mallard" was totally deflated by its inability to move! I placed it carefully on the track to programme its loco address and heard a buzzing. Not deterred I decided it was to be No 4 on my system and tried in vain to set it up. Nothing! Well three flashes of the red LED then nothing. I wouldn't play at all so has been returned, much to my disappointment as it is the closest thing to the "Silver King" I used to have on my old Hornby Dublo set over 60 years ago.

Mallard arrived on time at my private station some where in deepest Kent. The model is a great piece of engineering and now joins my model rolling stock of steams greatest locomotives. What will I do when I have all of them?
