"I might be evil personified, but you're the only one I'll ever be good to." August 1955, When Miss Darcy O'Sullivan, an orphaned English teacher from Boston, receives a letter that her biological father passed away, she is surprised to find herself included in his will. There is only one condition. She must travel to Fairydale to attend his funeral. With the promise of a sizable inheritance, Darcy decides to journey to the small coastal town that holds the secrets of her birth. But the moment she steps foot into Fairydale, things start to go amiss. Odd residents. Odd rumors. Odd...deaths. Everything about Fairydale is odd. Including brooding Caleb Hale-part of the infamous Hale family. During the day, she falls deeper and deeper under his spell as he forces her to step out of her comfort zone and embrace her inner sensuality. But at night it's another man who haunts her dreams-Amon d'Artan, a nobleman who lived two centuries ago. Amon is sweet and suave where Caleb is intense and dangerous, and Darcy feels more torn than ever. Soon, she finds herself embroiled in a web of lies, deceit, and inexplicable events that make her question her sanity. When an ancient evil threatens the town and everything Darcy holds dear, she must make the ultimate choice. But will she survive it? Review: Captivating - Fairydale immediately captivated me with its unique blend of gothic horror, dark fantasy, and multi-timeline romance. Fairydale the town was unsettling and mysterious from the start, for example the eerie piano scene in the church, which hinted at a world where nothing was as it seemed. Although I did find myself re-reading passages due to occasional confusion, the compelling elements outweighed this for me. Amon, the morally grey hero with an intensity that is utterly captivating. His possessive, and deeply traumatized nature, paired with his sharp intelligence and fierce protectiveness, quickly made him my favorite. I loved his poetic declarations of devotion, such as "Where you go, I go. If you exist so do I, and if you're not, nor am.โ Darcy made me laugh out loud when refusing to be spoken down to. But, her composure during the truly bizarre and unsettling events, especially given her sheltered and religious upbringing, sometimes stretched believability. I also felt that certain secondary plotlines, like the Pierce family and Darcy's potential half-siblings, held immense, yet unexplored, potential. While Amon completely won me over, the relationship between Caleb and Darcy didn't quite capture my interest in the same way. Overall, Fairydale is a book of striking contrasts. Despite some issues with pacing and character choices that may not suit every reader, those seeking an intense, obsessive, and emotionally charged dark romance will find themselves deeply drawn into its powerful and distinctive narrative.

fantasy lovers, just read it! you wonโt regret it
Fairydale is a beautifully woven tale of mystery, fantasy and love eternal. Itโs a story of souls both old and new, past and present, alive and moved on. It gave me everything I needed because it had so many wonderful elements to it. From paranormal to hints of historical and then right on into fantasy, it was an exquisite book and one I canโt wait to reread. . We open with the pure of heart Darcy, who after being orphaned at a young age by her mother, discovers at 24 that her father has passed away. Sheโs asked to come to Fairydale where she needs to be present for the reading of the will for a man she never knew existed. Darcy has always dreamt of a life of traveling and living but being raised by nuns sheโs never had the luxury of an exciting life, sheโs decides this is her chance to finally โliveโ and see what Fairydale has to offer. . From the moment Darcy arrives in Fairydale strange things begin to happen and she soon finds that there are those who wish to do her harm and those who wish to use her, the question is who are they and how far are they willing to go. One thing is for certain she feels a calling to this small town and her soul yearns to understand the townโs secrets as well as her own. . This book has layers upon layers of mystery and I absolutely loved trying to figure out every twist and turn. It had so many of my favorite tropes but due to spoilers they will remain nameless ๐ Was is a slow burn? Yes. Was is worth it? Also yes.. the love story in this book was sigh and swoon worthy. The devotion and dedication to each other was everything thing youโd want in a gothic romance. . This was also my first of Veronicaโs work and I have to say that there wasnโt a single thing wrong with this book for me other than I wanted MORE because I was not ready to leave these beautiful souls. Yes almost 1,000 pages and I still wanted more lol. Thatโs literally it lol if she wrote another book for these soul mates I would devour it and still probably ask for more.

Wow โ that was a long 3 week journey!
Ummmmโฆ what in the 700+ pages and 31 hours of audio did I just experience over the last 3 weeks of my life? I genuinely considered DNFing Fairydale multiple timesโbut somehow, every time I got close to quitting, something pulled me right back in. Whether it was my own need to see how the chaos unraveled or the authorโs knack for dropping just enough intrigue to keep me invested, I kept going. This is a dark gothic historical romance with heavy paranormal, horror, and fantasy elements, told across three separate storylines that constantly jump between timelines and POVs. That structure alone made it difficult to stay fully groundedโespecially during the first 60% of the book. I found myself reading just a few chapters a day, struggling to connect deeply with the characters. But once I passed that point, the pacing picked up and I devoured the second half in a couple of days. That said, this book is longโand not just in page count. The narrative feels stretched in places, with too much time spent on smaller, less relevant details, and not enough on areas that really needed more depth or clarification. There were some plot points I really wanted the author to explore further, but canโt get into without major spoilers. The writing itself felt somewhat unpolished, and the book couldโve benefitted from tighter editing. Itโs one of the longest books Iโve ever finishedโand while Iโm glad I stuck with it, I donโt see myself revisiting it again. It felt like a long walk for a small glass of water: satisfying in the end, but not quite worth the trek a second time. As for the audiobook, I used Whispersync with Kindle and listened to narrators Rylee Kuberra and Christian Gilliland. They did a decent job overall, but some key emotional scenes fell a little flat and lacked the intensity the story demanded. If you enjoy dark academia meets gothic fantasy with complex timelines and a hauntingly eerie atmosphere, Fairydale may be worth the time investmentโbut go in knowing itโs a slow burn in every sense of the word.

An epic adventure across different timelines and histories!
Fairytale is an epic adventure across different timelines and histories that bring forth fresh plot lines that I, personally, have never read before. The amount of plot twists this book had made me audibly gasping and eagerly turning to the next page. I was addicted from the get go with the mystery that was placed on our FMC. This book was thrilling, mysterious, HOT, and nerve wracking. I swear I went through the stages of grief reading this. I got choked up several times reading the interactions and desperation between our MCโs. It was tragic and romantic as hell. I loved the gothic vibes and while I felt the story was a bit scrambled (strictly due to the multiple timelines and history) I felt it all fell into place near the end of the book. I DO wish we got a bit of an extension towards the end because I felt it was a tad bit rushed, but that may just be my desire to see the interactions between the MCโs last a new lifetime. The little bit of monster romance we got in the mix had me kicking my feet and squealing like a teenage girl. Overall, this book was epic and emotional and I loved it so, so much. I read the ebook, but bought a physical copy immediately for my trophy shelf. I look forward to the audiobook in a few months, as Iโm sure itโll bring these characters to life in ways I could never expect!

very interesting
Well that was a very long and interesting story. It has so many elements to it that the length makes sense. The multiple timelines also contribute a huge part to the length and it feels like several stories in one. I listened to this and it took me a few days. I really liked the mystery of it all. We kind of got things in pieces and trying to put them together while theyโre all overlapping was the challenge. I had a couple assumptions/theories some were pretty close and some things were far off lol some of the twists were so out of left field that I had to rewind to make sure I heard it right lol If you like long stories that are not split into multiple books, you may like how this is set up. If you can endure 31 hrs of audio or around 700 pages, definitely give it a chance. But also consider the trigger warnings! Itโs dark and has some not so palatable parts that could be disturbing.

Dark, emotional, unforgettable
5โญ๏ธ Crazy, wild, and completely unpredictable. This story had me reeling with its multiple timelines and constant reveals. Dark, haunting, and emotional, this one kept me hooked from start to finish. I highly recommend going in blind. What to expect: โ Gothic, historical, painful, dark paranormal romance โค๏ธโ๐ฉน โ Mystery and mind games โ Unhinged, obsessive MMC devoted to the FMC โ Who did this to you, touch her and die energy โ ๐ถ๏ธ๐ถ๏ธ๐ถ๏ธ I also loved that this was a standalone. Definitely check trigger warnings before going in. Thank you to Atria Books, the author, and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Worlds and Time couldn't keep them apart
This story is truly a journey. Darcy inherits a house and a fortune from a father she just finds out exists. She goes to the town a Fairydale to meet with her new found family only to discover the town and it's inhabitants have a strange history. Among that history is a tale of a demon who has been captured and caged by a coven of witches. You travel through different times and worlds to discover the truth of who and what Darcy really is and how she is intimately connected to the most powerful demon they have ever seen. It is definitely a hefty book but it worth every single word on the page! If you enjoy a story with a rich, deep, soul binding love, paranormal aspects, and a mystery to figure out this one is definitely for you. Highly recommend!

Plots on plots on plots
Loved this book. What a wild ride. There are three different time periods in the book and I thought Veronica did an excellent job of weaving them together without it becoming convoluted. I enjoyed the pacing of world building and plot points. Sometimes it can feel like an information dump and I get bored of the world building if it is all at once but I think it was spread out nicely throughout the book. I also enjoyed the pacing of information because I didn't have enough pieces to predict the ending right away which I often spoil books for myself by predicting the ending right away. I enjoyed that you did not know who was the villian/ who she could trust right off the bat. It definitely has a lot going on but I don't think it is unnecessarily complicated. Loved the romance/love story and the added mystery surrounding the events made for a wonderful ride. The two main characters will live in my heart forever. I absolutely adored them.

This is a rating for the content of the book, not the condition of the book
The blurb that was shown was just the tip of the iceberg ๐ง. At first this will seem like a normal inheritance book where she will meet her love of her life but NO! It is more than that! This book has the best plot twist ever! I have been searching for a book to be obsessed with for so many years. BUT I FINALLY FOUND THE ONE!!!!! Darcy goes to a town called Fairydale. I love the name itself! The town has the perfect vibe I could ask for, small? check, cozy but chilling? check, less amount of people? check, has a castle that upon looking gives goosebump but fascinating? check. These are all subjective, that's how I imagined the town. And I LOVED IT!! I was freaking immersed in the world, it was addicting, when you read it will feel very modern and contemporary but that is just the beginning. Darcy getting an invite to Fairydale was just a bait to make her go there. Writing a review for this book is so hard because I feel like I will spoil it. Because you should read this book without knowing anything, that is the best way!!! I just wish the book never ended, it was not enough. I want to read more about him. The way he talks is oof ๐โจ Here's some of the things he said - ๐ "You called for me" "Your soul called for me. So make your wish. What is it you want, ****** mine" "How could I want anyone else when I am only because you are? I exist for you just as I exist because of you. He was so so obsessed and whipped for her, that he even waited for her for very long time. He took so many risks and his eyes was only set on her from the very beginning. He was not only flirting with her but also with me, she was falling for him and me too. The fact that he is not real is making me cry. I can read this book over and over again and I will never get tired of it. This book which is more than normal length of books and its still not enough for me! The writing style is beyond amazing, easy but magnificant. Veronica did this so beautifully, the setting, the vibes, the feelings, the chemistry between the characters, the romance, the plot. Veronica delivered this beautifully! This is not a normal love story which you are familiar with, this is a love story which defies war, society's disapproval, deaths . . . This the love story which will show you what destiny or fate is, what true love really means, what loving a person means, he is the prime example of if he wanted to he would . . . He respects her, he trusts her, values her opinion, this is a bare minimum, right? but it doesn't hurt to appreciate it. The way he loves her is . . . .๐ *takes a long breath* He communicates and always explains if anything goes wrong, he never leaves the room for her to misunderstand him. You will never doubt his love for her, he always expresses what he thinks. He will loose his mind if something happens to her. She trust him so much, that she went against her mother, family, society, there are many more but I wanted to write spoiler free review as I said you should read this book without knowing anything โค This is an EPIC LOVE STORY.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Actually read this one in a single sitting (yes, I had all day to myself with no responsibilities), which was not necessarily because of suspence, but becuase it was just a really enjoyable story.
