Fitted easily in existing Ri166RC bases.
These arrived very quickly and were exactly what I was hoping for. I had two Ri166RC alarms that needed replacingand these fitted on to the existing bases with no problem. I was not sure if they would fit so I now have two spare bases, but I guess I can keep these to fit more alarms or replace the old bases if necessary in the future. They can be fitted and removed easily so I think the locking tabs are not as stiff as on the new bases (a problem that other users have reported). The only disappointment is that one of the batteries supplied with the alarms was running out of power so as soon as I fitted the alarm it started beeping. So I had to fit a replacement battery immediately. I have only just fitted these alarms so it is too early to say anything about reliability.

An excellent replacement for the Ei141, since it fits perfectly onto the same baseplate. Additionally, moving to the Optical sensor means we haven't had a single false alarm from kitchen fumes since fitting them :)

A little awkward when you put the first up
Got these to replace the old ones that came with my house as they were out of date. We put the first one together then put it up and it started chirping, which as you can imagine was annoying as hell! We took it back down and put a brand-new battery in rather than the one supplied but this didn't stop it once it was on the ceiling. So we tried the other thinking maybe the unit was faulty. Turned out the one chirping just wanted the other unit to be installed and set up. Since then I've had no problems, I no longer need to fan them when I cook cause they don't go off whenever you cook! Not had a fire yet so don't know how effective they are when it comes to it but I don't want to test that any time soon 😂
