Tell Me About Heaven, Grandpa Rabbit!: A book to help children come to terms with losing someone special.

My 5 year old son started asking about heaven and so I bought this book and I am so pleased I did! He was captivated by the story and lovely illustrations. Whilst obviously a difficult subject, it explains the concept of death beautifully so that both my son and his 3 year old sister could understand - that although Grandpa Rabbit was gone he remained in their hearts and he had gone to a special place. It also allows the child to imagine what heaven may be like which is nice as it can fit with all beliefs. Whilst we just used this book for a child inquiring about heaven, I believe it would also be very appropriate for someone who is suffering a bereavement as it deals with the topic sensitively and in a way even small children can comprehend. We really like this author a (also read her "bea gives up her dummy" book). Highly recommend.

I like this book. We recently had a bereavement in the family and this book has been useful. It’s a good resource, helping us discuss with our little girl feelings around grief and loss. Our 4 year old girl enjoys reading it with me and she’s made the connection between the Grandpa in the book dying and the loss of her own Grandfather

Amazing my son could really relate would recommend this book to anyone trying to explain terminal illness/end of life/bereavement. A loverly concept and as it was my son’s grandad who passed away I was able to change the name to Gaga rabbit which is what he called his grandad loverly book thanks to the author for giving me away to explain in such a hard time x

My little girl really enjoyed the story. I think it sets just the right tone for younger children. It will make children feel that the person who has passed away is happy, and that they will always be watching over them. It's a sweet story with a really happy feel to it. A really nice way to deal with a very sensitive subject.

Last year my family suffered two great losses. My 4 yo kept asking questions about death and heaven. My child’s school teacher recommended this book to me. This book helped us discuss someone being really sick or elderly. And what we think heaven would be like. Would recommend to any parent who is struggling to explain loss to a child.

Bought this for my my grandsons who are very young and have lost two great great grandparents and two great grandparents the past couple years. I wanted to be able to explain in a sweet way they had passed and where they may have gone, without raising too many questions. This book is wonderful. Such a sweet way to explain to children how to remember a loved one. I would recommend highly this book.

I loved this book. It’s a really lovely happy story for a young child who has had to deal with someone passing away. Will really help make them feel better about it all. I know a 5 year old and a 8 year old who loved, it but it’s probably pretty ok for most ages. Would def recommend.

Our daughters’ great grandpa passed away and this was a great book to read to them. It has a lovely message.

Bought this book for my 7 yr old granddaughter who has had a very difficult time with the loss of her great grandfather whom she was very clode to. She liked the book, it touched her so much, she cried during certain parts. There are other books I've purchased on the same topic, one in particular that I like very much. The Next Place written by Warren Hansen is a great book, not only helpful for children, but for all ages who have lost a loved one. Eloquently written and had both she and I tearful as I read it to her. It certainly had me thinking at the end. Powerful!
