I’ve read many of the reviews for this and several other of he HDTV 150mile range antennas of this style, (if you carefully look at this to the $55 one sold by a different reseller they’re exactly the same unit), and think this is an excellent antenna. If you understand how digital and FM/UHF to AM signals work it’s by line of site. So FM signals work horizontally across the landscape and AM is a vertical signal bouncing off of the ground and atmosphere. That being said, if you have a big building or major hill or live in a valley you may have issues with the signal. So most people who can’t get this to work don’t have the antenna high enough for the line of site signal. I live 52 miles of NYC to the east and I wanted to see how well this antenna would work before even installing it outside on the roof. I put the antenna on my kitchen table and pointed in the general direction of New York City. The I hooked it up to TV we have in our kitchen, turned it on and did a scan. The exact location of NYC to us is 245 degrees. Just have it site there without having it in the exact direction I got 30 channels pretty clearly. We are at 260 feet of elevation and we do have a hilltop that does block us from completely clear line of site of the city but even with that we got great reception. Once I install the antenna on the roof it will be 20ft higher than where it was when testing in our kitchen. If using your smartphone or tablet you can find out through several websites the exact degree you are from which ever city you are close to that broadcasts TV signals. Then lining up the antenna to the exact degree the reception should be excellent. So getting the 150 mile range antenna almost ensures any NYC station will come in clear and many NJ stations and possible down to Philly which is less then 150 miles from us. I could careless about getting stations that far but to get all of NYC stations and if I use the rotation function I then can get L.I. Stations as well as Hartford. Since we have Amzn Prime, Rooku and the over the air digital HDTV antenna I can now say see you later to Cblevision and their constant increase in pricing for basic cable. Yes we will loose some channels but I’m just sick of the monopoly cable has in the area and stuck for TV options. This antenna solves a big chunk of getting local station broadcasts and made it that much easier to make the switch.

Had one and it stopped working, Love it so much I got another one , picks up channels and clear pictures , And the price was awesome , Easy too install and looks good up roof , easy to run cable and very Dury

UPDATE: 6/27/20 For the past few months the reception was getting worse after having been awesome. But I noticed when I'd pick up the controller the station would flicker. So I emailed customer service. I got a quick response and a new controller the next day. All our channels are back! UPDATE: On calm days we have had great reception but when a storm comes through, wind, rain, etc., it affects the signal. What I found trying to adjust the position of the antenna is that the two buttons on the remote are irrelevant, they don't switch direction. I have no idea how it is suppose to work. No matter which button you push it randomly switches directions, sometimes the same direction, other times it switches. I put a camera facing the antenna so that I can watch it and see what it is doing. Otherwise what a pain! ------------------------------------------------------ We dumped cable TV back in 2014. We had no interest in all the channels on cable so why pay for it? And over the air channels have a better resolution. The problem was getting the right antenna or antennas as I tried several all pointing in different directions and types. The weather here in Seattle also affects the signal. So I finally decided that I needed one that rotated and amplified so spent a little money on this one. Very easy to install. I installed it in the attic attaching a one inch pipe I had to a rafter. Immediately we had great reception. I have not seen that no reception message come up yet or missed the winning touchdown. I also haven't had to rotate it. It does need the amplifier to be on or there is no reception. My wife is happy now that the area is cleaned up... Best investment in our entertainment system yet!

After reading some bad reviews on this I decided to order one anyways cause I’m an electronics nerd and I wanted to investigate the problems. First, the reception here is awesome, my network stations are 20 to 40 miles away and they all come in strong, even though some are 180 degrees apart I barely have to move the antenna. A lot of complaints are about the operation of the rotor, not knowing which direction it’s turning, etc. I tore this apart and found that it is powered by a small, cheap synchronous ac motor such as you might find in a time clock. These motors have no way to control the direction so you never know which way they will start. Sometimes it will reverse if you use the switch but not always. It will always reverse to the opposite direction when it hits the end stop though. So the big problem is not knowing where the antenna is pointed or what direction it is turning. I rigged up a potentiometer so as it turns I can know based on the resistance reading of the pot. Honestly I suspect after I use it a bit I won’t really need the pot as reception is so strong. As far as the cable goes, I extended mine 20 feet or so with standard coax and it still works fine. The control unit sends 15 volts AC to the motor through the coax when you press the button and it is decoupled from the antenna signal by filters at each end, very low tech but it works. All in all I am really happy with this antenna.

I grew up in southwest Mississippi in the 60's, so before cable TV, so everyone had an antenna on their house. They were big (i.e. lots of long arms sticking out) and on a tall pole (think... 30 ft.!) There was no local station, so you had to rotate the antenna to catch a signal from stations from various broadcasters in various cities from 100 to 250 miles away. Most people had the pole on the side of their house, and the technique was a two-man operation. You'd get out the "TV Guide" magazine and decide what you wanted to watch. One person would sit at the TV, and through an open window, would yell at someone outside what was "going on" on the TV while the outside guy twisted the pole around with his hands. "We got WWL in NOLA. Yep, WBLT in Baton Rouge is coming in... Wait, spin it around and let's see if we can get the ABC out of Jackson." This was the "out-the-window" monologue. Some people had a motorized adjuster that worked through a little box on top of the TV. Those folks were "Uptown"! They'd pay maybe $150 (which is probably similar to $1,500 today), but finding the channel became a 1-person job. That's what I was looking for when I bought this. Review: I've used one of those "black, flat rectangle things", and was able to get it to pick up most stuff when situated on top of my chimney, but it was missing a few important channels. I got this antenna, put it on a pole at about the same height, and it gets everything I need, but I'm fortunate in that I live in a suburb of an urban area, and most of the towers are all located pretty much due east. While trying to fine-tune the best direction to point it I was using the remote control for the motor. Here's my experience: You push the left button, and it goes to the left. You push the right button... and it goes farther to the left! You stop pushing that button, and it stops. You push the right button again, ... and it starts going to the left! So, you stop again! You push the left button, and viola! it starts going to the right! It starts to work its way back, but... then it stops! You push either button, and it goes back to the left! This went on and on... I finally just found my wife, had her sit at the TV and yell out what sort of reception was coming in while I turned the pole with my hands. Ahhhh... the good old days... Bottom line: I fortunately don't need to use the motor where I'm living. Great reception on all the digital channels at about 20 ft. of height. The towers are about 40 - 50 miles away. (Note: I had it setup at about 17 ft. to start, (that was the height of the pole I had lying around, and it cleared the roof-line.) and couldn't get a couple channels. Raised it 3 ft., and everything came in!) Good antenna, but good luck with using the motor to point it anywhere.

The antenna provides high quality audio and video as good, if not better than cable. We live in a low hollow and the previous directional antenna would not pick up all of the stations. I could pick up ch. 5 or 4 but not both. With this one I pick up ALL channels in middle Tennessee. Once the channels are acquired there is no need to adjust the direction.

Not very impressed. Easy to assemble and install, but the reception is mediocre at best. When I first aimed it at the transmitter tower, only 35 miles away across the lake, nothing in between except for a few trees since I'm on a ridge above the valley. At first it had 21 channels instead of the usual 4 I got with my indoor antenna. When I got home from work a few hours later, I was down to 5 channels. I re-aimed the antenna, didn't help. All connections are tight. The rotation wasn't working until I manually rotated it a little. Poor internal connections obviously. Still only got a few channels. Bypassed the rotation mechanism plugged cable directly into antenna. Signal was a little better, but improved even more after I also bypassed the amplifier box plugging directly into TV. Only gained 3 more channels. Not happy with this thing. I will try mounting it higher (it's at 11 feet now) and will report back with an update. So far, it's not worth the money. Update: Downgraded to one star (wish I could give it a zero) Installed antenna at approx 25 feet, just above the roof of the house. DIRECT line of sight to the transmitter tower 35 miles across the valley. Nothing in between, not even trees. I now get 4 channels, and that's on a good day. Some days I get nothing but random pixels. Also, the rotation mechanism is horrible. It just moves in whatever direction it wants. No type of feedback so you don't know where it's pointed. Have to run outside to look. And, as another reviewer noted.... the antenna elements are worthless since there is no electrical connection between them. I've been a Ham radio operator for almost 20 years and know quite a bit about antenna design. This "antenna" is 90% non-functional. Just more imported plastic crap. As near as I can tell, it's just an indoor antenna receiver with a lot of "fluff" added to it to make it look like it works better. You'd be better off taping a big sheet of aluminum foil to your indoor antenna. The manufacturer needs to send their designers to school to learn about how RF radiation works. I think they employ children's toy designers.

Easy to setup and works great. I'm 30km from the boarder at Prescott Ont. Excellent reception from the roof top. 15 channels and HD quality.

I like the way everything is design for easy assembly. The only thing I don’t like is that I cannot see the orientation from the control I had to use a iPhone from my wife and use the face application to set up the proper antenna orientation. I can see about 53 channels pointing it to Toledo direction an about 48 channels oriented to Detroit area. Some are same network but I prefer that than pay cable. I’m happy with this product.

Good product. No tool required. Ensure you infold the antenna at the right location, once unfold you can not put it back at original place. Will test it in canadian winter but not sure the motor will work with snow and ice
