This Book Beautifully Conveys One of the Fruits of the Spirit
I recently gifted this charming book to my 9-year-old granddaughter for Christmas, and it perfectly aligns with the Christian values our family cherishes. As I strive to select literature that reflects our beliefs and points to the teachings of Jesus, I found this story to be a perfect match. Although my granddaughter is generally well-behaved, the narrative cleverly illustrates the consequences of a lack of self-control, allowing her to understand how one's actions can ripple out and affect others. This not only reinforces her role as a big sister but also equips her to gently guide her younger siblings in a way they can understand, showing them that their behavior can lead to unintended negative outcomes. This book stands out for its ability to explain a vital concept—one of the Fruits of the Spirit—in a manner that resonates even with children, something many adults struggle to articulate. It provides valuable insights, teaching young hearts wisdom early on as the Bible encourages us to do.Beyond the profound message this story conveys, I want to highlight the book's physical attributes as well. I opted for a hardcover edition. It has a sturdy binding that lends to its durability, hopefully for years of reading enjoyment. The cover is beautifully illustrated, capturing the essence of the story and harmoniously reflecting the artwork found throughout the pages. Each illustration transports readers back to the historical context in which the tale is set, drawing them deeper into the narrative and helping to enrich their reading experience. My granddaughter loves books, and she was happy to add this to her growing collection. Seeing the interest she took in this book, I'm grateful to have found a book that nurtures both her love for reading and her understanding of our faith.

Wonderful!
This is my 6-year-old son’s favorite book! The whole family loves it, but he reads it over and over again. What a wonderful message and such a blessing to us it has been.

First, He'll fix your heart!
The great city of Thad had the strongest walls of any city, but it did have one weakness: “the king lacked self-control.” Follow King Ira as he crumbles his own city and then encounters Lady Wisdom in, The King Who Found His Self-Control by Costi and Christyne Hinn with art by Brad Smith.“King Ira did whatever he pleased. He lacked self-control and didn’t care how others would feel.” One day, he angrily shoved the cornerstone of his strong walls, and watched them crumble and crumble. The king’s lack of self-control had destroyed the walls of Thad; would he help fix them or just give up instead? King Ira begs Lady Wisdom, an Advisor to the King, to help if she can! Her operation to save the city starts with the Bible. She tells him there is a King of all kings who can fix the walls, “but He’ll first fix your heart.” Will King Ira learn to call on King Jesus to fix him and his sinful actions?Of course, he does! And of course, King Jesus answers his prayers, and gives King Ira a brand-new heart. “The heart is where all of our problems begin. Having no self-control is a thing He calls sin.” My kids and I both enjoyed this simple and fun rhyming story, that included an important lesson for all ages. The clear and colorful illustrations make it easy for younger kids to follow along and understand Proverbs 25:28: “A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.” Kids not only learn how to recognize their lack of self-control, but that the only way to overcome it is when Jesus removes the heart of stone and replaces it with a heart of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26). I highly recommend this entertaining and engaging fruit of the spirit tale that contains Bible verses and instructs parents how to lead their “kids on the journey toward more self-control.”

Worth it
Love love this book for my 4 year old who is struggling hard with anger. He talks about this book often and has prayed to God multiple times to repent for his sins. It is the sweetest thing. I highly recommend this book!!

Love it
I’ve been in the search for Biblically accurate books that apply spiritual truths to one’s life. This is excellent! My child wants to read it over and over again. Very well done, engaging, great use of scripture throughout! Love the last pages for the parents too. Great illustrations. I’m a Bible teacher, children’s director of 11+ years and constantly needing to scratch out things in books but not this one. Thank you!! Please make more!!! Have shared with other leaders and mommas.

LOVE this book for our 3 year old
This is one of my favorite children’s books I have purchased to date as a mom of two. The story is wonderful, engaging, and practical. We often use this story and the language in this book when disciplining and pointing our children back to their need for the gospel.
