Easy to use. Can change power level while charging. It keeps the power level setting so if higher amperage blows your circuit you can plug in elsewhere and turn it down. Easy to connect and disconnect. Not the longest cable, but decent.

had 2 "error" cases charging car... set amperage down a notch then no problem. Dunno if the raw power not good enough, or charger dicy at max

I recently purchased a PHEV because it seemed to match my driving habits with the greatest efficiency. I either have very short drives, or very long drives. For my short drive days, I can do everything on EV power. For the long drive days, I have an ICE and over 400 miles of total range before needing to fuel up at a gas station. The trick is that I also have a solar power system in my shed. In the summer time, the power mostly goes to keeping the shed climate controlled. In the winter … I generate way more power than I use. With this level 1 charger, I can set the amperage at a level my inverter can handle and dump all that excess power into my EV battery. I like being able to customize the power draw by changing the amperage. 10 amps seems to be what my inverter can handle and still manage all the other loads in the shed. I have a small fridge, the window AC, battery chargers for my power tools, etc. If there is a day when I just need to pull lots of excess power off the system, I can up the amperage a bit.The charger seems well built. It’s very simple to use, and I don’t worry about the wires overheating or causing problems. Both plugs are very robust, and the charger delivers the current it’s set at. I’m happy.

It worked as advertised.....would have been better to have an 8A charging level since it's just a Level 1 variable output charger and since all the Level1/2 variable output chargers have that increment. The most likely application of a variable output EV charger is for slow charging an EV with off grid solar and wind replenished battery bank with a pure sine wave inverter. The cable to the car was not the length as advertised. It says 19 feet but is barely 10 feet....that was shockingly inaccurate. I might have considered keeping it if the cable were tru ly 19 feet. Should correct that representation in the description.

This is a great backup to the OEM charger that came with our Kia Niro. It will work with ANY car that has the standard US non-Tesla charging port. I got the Level 1, 16A version. This will not charge your car in a matter of hours, but it can plug into any typical outlet. We don't typically use more than 10% of a charge per day, and this will easily put it 20% overnight, so we don't need anything more.I've used this in place of my regular OEM charger, and it works just as well. It has the ability to adjust the Amps from 6-16. Many outlets (and the wiring behind them) are wired for 15 amps, so I used the 13A setting. If you use it and your breaker flips, reduce the charger amperage. Do NOT tape the breaker or replace it with a higher amp breaker. The breaker is there to protect the wiring and outlet from overheating and causing a fire if they aren't sized for 20 amps.What we got this for is to keep in the trunk as a backup. When we go on a longer trip and find ourselves needing to charge while farther from a station than we expected (the charge ran down faster than expected, or a charger isn't working), we can at least add some power anywhere we can plug this in. It might take a while, but at least we won't get stuck. This comes with a really nice carrying case just like the pair of jumper cables I have in my other gas car.If you want to use this as your regular charger, it also comes with a metal hook to hang the cord. It's pretty basic, but it would work. However, I'd recommend getting two of the screws into a wall stud or using better anchors than they supply.
