In having to for the first time as a daily routine, give a cat medication it’s very dependent on the cat and does require a lot of experience or an abundance of YouTube tutorials, especially when you’re dealing with a sick animal you don’t want to stress it anymore than it already is, I am not a professional veterinary technician, or anything like that, but for 20 days straight I just got through taking care of a beloved animal, along with a product like this if there’s any stress on the animal immediately have a veterinary technician simply do it for you and help you to learn as it takes effort, and some basic knowledge. for most animal lovers it’s whatever the cost and vets are usually very willing to help with these things. My specific issue was swollen lymph nodes so the cat already did not want to eat or drink, you have to get it “the pill“ at least 2/3 past the tongue basically down the throat that’s why it is called a pill gun, it’s why it has suction and literally shoots the pill because if you simply try to put one in by hand, the cat will spit it out somewhere and quickly learns to spit it out when you are not looking. Anyways, my point if your animal actually needs medication it’s usually not a good scenario and you don’t want your animal under any more stress than it already is so a device like this is extremely handy, and it becomes habit and routine for the animal very quickly once it’s learned how to use properly, I thought YouTube tutorials would be enough but one person is not enough unless they are a expert technician. One thing I am positive of the faster the better and quick and easy and painless so there’s no stress or discomfort to the animal in question- so all the YouTube tutorials you can watch and Most are making it look like it’s really easy and it is not! 100% have a professional technician help you a few times whether you bring your cat to the vet or they come to you, it’s a service most that’s offer and for the love of your animals absolutely necessary to do it properly. The product works wonderful, there’s some more sleek designs that are a little more appropriate as the less the animal sees the less it is prone to be weary of what’s in front of it, kind of like seeing a large needle as opposed to a very small needle for a human. But like I said it works and it’s just a tool, so it needs to be used properly and assuming you love your animal and you’re buying this for that reason 100% if it does not go smoothly the first time, talk to your veterinary office immediately for assistance, then it quickly becomes a routine. For the price and the fact that it works overall it’s a decent product, you can’t put a price tag on taking care of your animal properly but also unless your animal requires medication daily for the rest of his life, you do not need a professional grade pill shooter, so if something like this works just fine short term. It’s a tool that works and if you’re new to this kind of task like I said it becomes routine but have a professional to assist you and teach you for your animal. It works as advertised, cleaning is not a problem. And if your animal requires medication on a daily basis, I’m sure you have already spoken with your vet and have a solid routine down but for short term care this is perfect.:) a further note as time is usually a factor make sure it can be delivered immediately, I needed it quickly and thank you Amazon for getting this to me next day as I need it-

One of our cats has GI Lymphoma and has to take a couple of pills every day. We bought this one because it's what the vet initially sent home with us. It broke so we bought another one . The tip came off and went down our cat's throat. (See pic and the tip is one the left side of it. It's about 2") We had to take him to the emergency vet but by the time we got there it had went from his stomach into his intestines. The vet said if he wasn't able to pass it our options were to have surgery to remove it and that due his illness with his intestines he may not survive the surgery, or if it was stuck we might have to euthanize him because we were facing him being in a lot of pain. Luckily he was able to pass it, but do yourself a favor and don't buy this piece of junk!!! Amazon sells Pet Pillers that are in one piece without this tip. Do yourslef a favor and buy one of those. $2,800 later and our cat almost dying was scary and this product should be taken off the market.

If you have an old, stubborn pet who has suddenly developed the ability to detect a pill hidden inside literally anything, this little gadget is your new best friend. The Cat Pill Shooter is easy to use, gentle on my dog’s mouth, and sturdy enough to handle nightly use without falling apart. It holds the pill well, goes in smoothly, and makes medicine time so much less stressful for both of us. Honestly, I wish I had bought one sooner. What was good: The design is very straightforward. It only takes a second to load a pill into the soft silicone tip, and the pill actually stays put until you push the plunger. I was worried it might be rough or uncomfortable, but it is surprisingly gentle and safe with no sharp parts at all. My dog, who has dementia and refuses pills no matter how well they are hidden in food, now gets his nightly medicine quickly and with minimal fuss. Cleaning it is easy since the tip comes off and the whole thing is just plastic and silicone with no tiny parts to worry about. For the price, it is more than worth it, especially since it feels sturdy enough to last. What wasn’t: I will admit, the first thing I thought when I saw the removable silicone nib was, “Great, now my dog has a new choking hazard.” Thankfully, it is on there pretty securely, and after using it regularly, I do not see it coming off accidentally. Other than that initial worry, I cannot really find much to complain about. It is simple, it does exactly what it promises, and it saves me from having to play “hide the pill in cheese” every night. Recap: This is one of those inexpensive tools that completely changes a routine. If you have a pet who refuses medication, especially an older one who has mastered the art of pill detection, this shooter is absolutely worth having. It is quick, easy, safe, and saves both of us a lot of stress at pill time. Five stars without hesitation.

Only not giving a 5 star because it took little effort for our cats to break this. This works easily as intended but it took almost no effort for our cats to get their paws on this behind our back and turn it into their play toy. It took very little time for them to crack it. I'm aware, it's not intended to be a toy, however, these things are going to take a smacking around with some cats when trying to get the pill down their throat. So, essentially, be mindful if your cats do smack it away out of your hand. Check it for any cracked or loose pieces. Otherwise, great product. Easy to use if you aren't trying to shove this down the throat of Satan incarnate.

My cat recently had a heart related health scare which he almost did not survive. Now he has to take 3 pills every day...one is known for tasting very, very bad. I bought this product to help get the bitter tasting pill to go down his throat without traumatizing my cat too much. In the photos/video & description of this product on Amazon, it shows that two removable tips are included, and the one designed to be used for pills (vs. liquid medicine) should have two, very short slits (on opposite sides, just cutting through the tip), to allow the tool to easily hold a pill in the tip. However, when this product arrived, there were two identical tips in the package, and neither had any slits. But if you try to put a pill in the tip (which has no slits), you have to wedge it into the top of the tip & it is so tight that when you press the plunger to shoot the pill into the back of your cat's throat, the pill gets stuck in the tip...and alternatively, if you try to barely push a pill into the tip, so it's basically just sitting on top of the tip instead of being tightly wedged in, then the pill just falls off the tool as soon as you try to point it downwards so you are in position to press the plunger. Even when I cut the slits into one of the tips, exactly in the same positions & to the same depth as in the photos on Amazon, the tip still does a lousy job holding a pill (it is either impossible to shoot it out of the tip or it is impossible to get a pill to stay on tip without falling off as you get into position to press the plunger). This product does look like it would work well for liquid medicine, which is the other intended use for this tool. And to be fair, in the advertising, they present this product as a liquid medicine administering tool first, and then secondarily as a "pill shooter." I haven't tried it for liquid medication yet (none of my cats have needed or been prescribed liquid medicine), so I cannot yet review or endorse this product for liquid medication. I can only speak from experience using this tool for pills, and I can recommend skipping this product & buying some other gadget or tool to help your cat take his pill(s)

I normally wait to leave a review but as soon as it came in we used it on our kitty who just got put on some heavy meds due to either kidney disease or kidney failure at 10 years old, we are waiting on the blood test results to know which way it goes, we are hoping "just" kidney disease vs kidney failure... Furby, our kitty, we have had before his eyes were barely open and fit in our shirt pocket... so we love each other a lot but when it comes to meds its a hard no and traumatic for everyone involved. We have tried pill pockets...tricking...mixing...etc NADA he was NOT having it lol. So I ended up researching and came across this! I looked for the one with the best reviews and ordered it not expecting a lot but I figured if it don't work we will keep on trying... literally yesterday he kept spitting out his antibiotics and pain meds and my husband and I both got scratched up etc and I am allergic sooo you can imagine how this was going. Enter in this product! We waited for it all day, checking where it was, etc as we were not going to put him through more trauma if we did not have to so we skipped his morning meds waiting as I did the overnight shipping hoping it would be in quickly aka by breakfast but it got in about 5pm... BUT it was worth it! What would take forever, us getting hurt, him being upset, etc we got the one pill down the very first time! And then put the other med in and same! He tried coughing it up but couldn't and now he is sleeping it off and it got down so easily and quickly vs the trauma before. All and all LOVE this product and omg wish I had gotten it sooner! I am not paid for this review or anything like that, just a sick pet parent that loves their Furbaby and wanted this easier for everyone. I got all that and more! Saving to my wishlist to get again for if we ever need a replacement as we will just get this again and forget about pill pockets or any other methods we chose. We are ABSOLUTELY sold and will tell everyone about this product, who knew adult life would be so excited about a pet product to give meds LOL 10000/10 recommended :) UPDATE: Cons: I tried using this for his hairball gel and it was super hard to clean...personally...probably going to buy another set of these one for wet one for pills as for pills its great :D

My cat has to take a small pill (for reference, half of a 16 mg Cerenia) three times a week for the rest of his life. He will not take it it if it is crushed and mixed with his food, or in a pill pocket. It is also hard to give him the pill plain by hand because it tends to stick in his mouth and eventually fall out, partially dissolved. The best solution I had come up with was wrapping the pill in a bit of pill pocket and "pilling" him with that. It is a minor hassle but, since he will need this pill for (hopefully) many years, I thought I would try this pill shooter to try to make our lives easier. I have tried the pill shooter several times now, with the pill plain or wrapped in a little bit of pill pocket. Not once has it worked as I hoped. Either he manages to spit out the pill right after it goes in, or it seems to get lodged in his throat and he runs around looking uncomfortable for about five to 10 minutes. I have now given up. This product might be fine for other uses; I don't know. We just couldn't make it work for us.

I have a cat that needs blood pressure medication. The dose is 1/4 of a really tiny pill. This pill shooter works absolutely perfectly. It holds that super tiny piece of pill securely and makes it possible to deliver it in a controlled, quick and safe manner that minimizes drama or trauma. Of course you have to be careful that you follow the directions and cautions. It isn't difficult. Yes, it is light plastic. That is a positive, not a negative. I can't really imagine what the person who complained that it felt cheap had in mind that would improve it. I'm very sorry to see that, at this point in time it is valued at 3.5. That may dissuade people from trying this fabulously useful product. I have been so grateful to have found it. Once more, it works perfectly for small pills or pill fragments. It's more for cats than dogs. That's fine for my cat and me. Edited to say that I have not tried the liquid abilities of this product. So I can't speak to that. When needed, we just use the same dropper we've always used.

This pill dispenser has been a life saver! My cat absolutely hates taking medication and will do anything that she can to spit a pill out. She sometimes even chipmunk's it in her cheek and spits it out later. One of her pills has a bad taste to it, so she often wouldn't eat her food because she still had the bitter taste in her mouth. This dispenser allows you to easily put the pill far enough into the back of their mouth that they can't spit it out. Giving my cat her medication twice a day use to be a very stressful situation for the both of us, now it is quick and easy. Been using it for a few months now. Highly recommended!

Using the QIYADIN Cat Pill Shooter made an unpleasant task so much easier and safer

This worked great for a while (purchased summer 2024 and was used for a few cats with medical conditions). HOWEVER the right sized pill will get stuck in the silicone tip creating a suction, and can pop the entire silicone tip off while administering the pill and pop it down the throat. After a trip to the regular vet, emergency vet, and a scope under anesthesia (about $3200 total), my cat is okay. I used to recommend this but absolutely would not any more, get one from your vet instead! You can see the tip in the green circle.

Recently my cat had to go to the ER and long story short, I need to give him pills 3 times a day for 7 days. My cat is very difficult to give medication, especially pills. He is squirmy and refuses to open his mouth (even after following a ton of tips I saw in videos). Anyways, I bought this in hopes of making the process a bit easier and I am so glad I did. The pills I have are about 0.5-0.75 cm in diameter and they fit in this product well. I simply squeeze the tip of the silicone applicator and insert the pill (make sure to test it a few times before trying it with your cat/dog) and then I prepared my cat. He is still squirmy and very difficult, but this applicator helped a lot. I'm able to push it into his mouth and then release the pill towards the back of his throat. Sometimes it take 2 tries, but so far I've been able to get the pill in in one try. The trick is to release it towards the back of the throat, if I don't that's usually when he will spit it out. Anyways, it's a great tool to have around for the future in case I need it. I don't necessarily think it's worth $10 but I see that the price has gone down since I bought it. Also to note, this specific one did not have a silicone tip with a slit, but it did come with 2 of the same tips so if you need one with a slit you could probably cut one. I didn't need the one with the slit though.
