If you look at my profile, I rarely give 5 star reviews. I give a lot of 3 and 4 star because I expect things to work, and reserve the 5 star ratings for something that sits above and beyond others I have used in both usefulness and value. This is one of those products. Now, I'll start out by saying I am not a daily wearer of a baton, just occasional weekend security, but this holder has me impressed enough by how well it works, how well it is made, and how inexpensive it is for what you get that I gave it 5 stars.First off, it must fit your baton. I have an APS (others may be slightly bigger or smaller in diameter affecting the fit). It holds the baton with the perfect balance of solid grip, and easy access. It is also adjustable so I can carry it higher or lower on my belt, and also swivels so I can adjust it to a convenient angle, and it stays there as the swivel locks securely to the angle you choose. Retention is solid, yet access is quick and easy (fortunately I never had to grab it in a panic situation, but it worked very well testing it out and trying to set some muscle memory on how it works). It also has a secondary 'lock' you can deploy, holding it very, very securely for times like you are sitting in a car, or are where you don't want it to fall out or be pulled out of the holder. When 'locked' the baton is EXTREMELY difficult to pull out, making it very unlikely anyone will be able to grab your baton and use it against you. Unlocking is with a little lever that falls under your thumb when it is on your belt on the right hand side in a vertical or near vertical position. Releasing the lock takes a fraction of a second, just flick it with your thumb as you bring your hand down to grab the baton. It is recessed just enough that someone standing next to you trying to grab it will have difficulty releasing the lock because the location of the lock is only in a 'natural' position when you reach straight down. All this would garner a 4-1/2 star rating until I factor in cost. For the price, I do not see how it could be improved in any way. I actually prefer this holder 90% of the time over the ASP holder which is about 5X the price. The only real thing the ASP holder has over this one is that it is a bit more compact, making it better for riding in a car or sitting in a chair with sides/armrests. For walking around (which is what I do) I far prefer this one, which impressed me, especially given the cost. I want to stress again, I carry an ASP baton when walking security, others of a different size may not work as well. The other guys also carry ASP so we had no others to try to see how they worked.

This product works like a charm, and is very easy to size for whatever OC spray you are using. I work in Armed Private Security and it does everything described. It is durable as I still am using it all these months later, its got great retention, if someone used all there strength to pull it out of its holding when it's locked they probably could do that, but you would feel them actively trying to get it out and could do something about it. (Baton, kick or hand strikes to get them off of you then give them the juice) Under normal pressure you cannot pull it out or away without using the thumb press to release the clip.

It looks nice and so far it is durable the lock will hold so not every one can get to it

Job

I wasn't sure about the hold and the over all design. I didn't feel it was secure enough despite the build quality felt solid. Value maybe there if you like this retention and look. I went to something a lil more akin to what I already had. I would have given it more if I had kept it or been able to try it out longer. Ultimately I returned it.

This made it very easy for me to access my baton without any hookups.
