Purchased this to add power to my new layout. I purchased two for two separate blocks. Overall good purchase, although haven't tried them on the layout yet. You must purchase some type of connection device to get the power to the track, as the supply end of the transformer is a molded plug which requires some form of connector (TMCC Lockon part TMCC Direct Lockon , Track Power Controller TMCC Track Power Controller 300 (TPC)  or its bigger cousin, the TPC 400, etc.) to wire this to the track layout. If you use this power source with one of the track power controllers, you will also need to purchase cables (Lionel parts 6-14191 aqnd 6-14194) to attach the power source to the TPC and then to the track; if you want to connect directly to the track, you can use the TMCC Direct Lockon.
