Interesting so far
At first I was rather disappointed as I am reading this book in English and in several places it calls Islam a cult and then I saw that it called Buddhism a cult and it got me thinking, if this book was originally written in Italian, I bet there is a word that can easily be mistranslated a cult but does not carry the negative, insulting connotations that the word cult carried in English. I looked it up and sure enough, Culto in Italian does not carry the same negative connotations that cult carries in English. So for anyone who may feel insulted about the use of the word cult in this book, it is more than likely a case of a poor translation of the Italian word culto which in Italian can just mean a religion without the connotation of false religion, etc. Outside of that, the book seems good so far, though I wish I did not receive it with a bent cover.

Excellent Book!
This is an excellent book on Pencak Silat and an outstanding source of information on the Sundanese style of Sera. I was particularly impressed by the author’s detailed research and conscious effort to impartially highlight the various lineages and gurus of Sera without being influenced by the politics and rivalries that often exist amongst Pencak Silat practitioners.I also enjoyed and appreciated the author’s personal hand drawn illustrations. They illustrated the techniques very well while adding a personal touch to the book.I highly recommend this book!

Awesome book for anyone interested in Martial Arts or history!
"Journey Through Pencak Silat" by Massimilliano Morandini is a fantastic guide to the art of Pencak Silat. As someone who has studied various martial arts, I was impressed with the depth and detail presented in this book. The author does an excellent job of breaking down the different styles and techniques of Pencak Silat, making it easy for beginners to understand and follow along. The illustrations and step-by-step instructions are clear and concise, making it easy to comprehend the simple yet complete structure from which the techniques described are derived. What I appreciate most about this book is the author's focus on the history and philosophy of Pencak Silat. It's not just about learning physical techniques, but also understanding the cultural and spiritual aspects of the art. This adds a depth and richness to the book that is often missing in other martial arts guides.Overall, "Journey Through Pencak Silat" is an excellent resource for anyone interested in learning about this beautiful and powerful martial art.
