VTechInno TV Plug and Play Game Consoles

With the InnoTV priced under £17 (5/3/16), I took a punt on this for my 4-year old after vtech announced plans to restore their online InnoTV services from 14th March. Knowing that I'd have to do a manual firmware update, I downloaded the software to SD card in advance and did the install straight out the box.And that's as fiddly as using the InnoTV has been (despite vetch's Learning Lodge being down). With the InnoTV's firmware updated, its been a joy to use and the 4-year old has absolutely loved it. Yes, you need to sign in as 'Guest' until the online services are restored, but this allows you to play your cartridge games as well as the 3 freebies you get as part of the update itself. Plenty to keep the little man entertained for the next couple of weeks.As for the quality of this product, I've been impressed. The wireless controller works flawlessly and the interface and games are what you'd come to expect from vtech and their InnoTAB range. Its just a shame that all this effort has been scuppered by last year's hack - I hope that vtech keep to their timeline and we see the InnoTV Learning Lodge return through March.PS - A second controller is only available from vtech for £21.99. With Amazon's console price undercutting that by around £6, I know what I'll be doing...

Terrible unusable product. This review is done when the Vtech server is working so is based on I presume how it is intended to work and is not effected by the server hack where all data was stolen from VTexh.The Joystick is useless, if you select left then let go it will return to centre then move right. This is most obvious when trying to type by selecting letter from an onscreen keyboard. It will always land on the character left right above below the character you moved to making it near impossible to type. This failure also show when you play games such as a car driving game where you move left or right as you drive along. 9 times out of 10 it does the opposite to what you want as the final right after turning left takes precedence over the actioned manoeuvre.The games are very limited and if they were not "character branded" you would be forgiven to think that they were demos for free games. The Vtech customer service is terrible, perhaps they have given up after the number of complaints from when server was down and meant that the Christmas gift was physically unusable.I don't understand how the Vtech toys seem to be all very good, yet this is so nasty Chinese rubbish. Another problem, is that the controller (just 3m) away from the cube keeps losing connection flashing up warning screen why playing game and then reconnecting seconds later with new good quality batteries. Not sure why this would happen maybe clashing with wifi? inadequate transmitter/receiver?Purchased a range of games from Smyths Toys as all half price, presumable clearing them - they didn't have any consoles. Certainly would never pay Shop RRP/Download price £19.99 of each game.My advice would be to get a proper console Original Wii, Xbox360 and just pickup second hand games or get an Android box or Raspberry Pi over the VTech Inno

I decided to ignore the previous reviews as the price had gone down to £22 at the time of purchase, once the item had arrived I attempted to download to update onto an SD card however when this didn't work I phoned vtech who informed me that they weren't allowing downloads from their website, instead they posted the SD card with the update already loaded onto it free of charge, the inno tv unit now works perfectly and my 4 year old is enjoying her time playing on it and learning without even knowing it! For such a bargain price it really didn't bother me to have to make a phone call and wait for a disc, I wouldn't let it put you off.

Ordered one when they were about £30, would never pay full price for it. Unfortunately it took us a couple of weeks to get sorted as it just would not do the firmware update and would sit at 0%. Vtech sent us another one which did the same thing which led me to think it might be something to do with our Internet we are with BT. Got it connected on a friends network and it downloaded however the PSU blew up! Vtech then sent another one with the firmware update already downloaded so after a lot of headaches my little one can finally play 😁. Got to say vtech were really helpful just wish it would work out of the box

This is a clever little box. Easy for kids to use. Had an issue with vtech as their learning lodge was down so couldn't use it for weeks as even though it was brand new - it needed an update!?I like that you can use the newer innotab games in this too. But in spite of all this, I still don't think I would've paid full price for it. I got it at a fab price from Amazon so I'm happy with it. Had I paid full whack - I don't think I would be.

Perfect start console for my 5 year old daughter, great games that are fun to play whilst teaching her basic spelling and maths.Recommended. Amazon is the cheapest place I found to buy too and with quick free delivery.
