I waited a long time before purchasing a new iron . My old iron was a Proctor Silex so I decided on the manufacturer proctor silex. To purchase my new iron. I gave this iron five stars for its great heating performance with superb wrinkle removal with no leakage when using the steam feature. The automatic shut off and the retractable cord features are also great. Although its size is compared to a professional grade iron probably used by seamstress, the smoothness of this iron made it feel much lighter and less of a chore.

This is a replacement for a high end steam iron that began leaking after 4 years of use. It is used for quilting and fabric craft projects. Tried a similar model to the high end steam iron, but it did not perform as advertised and was returned to Amazon. Criteria for the replacement was: stainless steel sole plate, 1500 watts, separate controls for steam and temperature, use tap water, steam vents on the entire sole plate, good reviews. (My previous high end iron had 400 mini- steam vents on the sole plate and had outstanding steam production). The steam vents on this iron are larger in size and are located along the entire outer edge of the sole plate. Happy with the amount of steam production on this iron. Controls are easy to use. Water level is easy to see so you don’t overfill. Instructions for setting and using iron are clear. Clear warning to follow instructions to prevent leaks and drips. Uses tap water but if you have hard water it recommends a mix of tap and distilled water. The retractable cord is a nice to have feature. Initially the cord did not fully retract after 4 attempts. Discovered you need to ensure the cord retracts along the width of the pulley and does not bunch up in one spot. If you do this correctly, the cord fully retracts. It also has a 3 year limited warranty. This was about 1/3 the cost of the high end steam iron I replaced. Excellent replacement

I like this iron because it has basic, simple lines. I read in other reviews that the cord does not retract completely -- this is true -- just not a good mechanism, lazy design. On the good side: It is easy to see and operate the little dial where you choose your fabric temperature. The water reservoir is fairly easy to fill and unlike a lot of irons, the window that shows you the water level is clear and easy to read. It has a retractable cord which does not interfere with your hand placement. Like a lot of irons today, it does not have an on off switch, you just plug it in. The instructions say it turns off in 30 seconds if placed on one side, or 15 mins if it's on the other side, but I do not see where they specify which side is which. Whatever! Seems solid made and worth the extra $ over the less expensive and more cheaply made alternatives. Some of these other irons are just saw darn cheaply made.

At his price-point especially, a very good product... A bit heavy-in-hand, But... I often starch laundry - this thing is superior to 'Teflon' coated alternatives in quickly laying down the wrinkles. It ahs an ample water reservoir, but aggressive steaming means you gotta keep an eye on it... You may run out and need a re-fill earlier than than with more meager irons.

I had one of these Iron it work so good, it fell off the iron board twice and still work perfectly fine, I don't know what happens the cord broke. So I decided to get me another one and it didn't disappoint at all.

This iron seems very sturdy and heavy duty without all of the added weight. The retractable cord is great to keep things out of the way. I can see how there may come a time when it no longer retracts. You do have to make sure the cord doesn't get twisted in order for it to retract. The iron heats up pretty fast. Not fast enough for the hubby, who likes to iron everything on high heat with steam. He's getting used to it though. The self cleaning feature is great. I'm not sure if and how it works. I'm hopeful since we have terrible water here. That has killed more than one iron. I also love the automatic shut-off if the iron remains upright. As soon as it is horizontal again it turns back on. I found this helpful when ironing before packing, being able to stop and start with ease. The only thing I do wish is that it had a power button. Currently, I've to unplug it to insure it is not on. I like to leave it horizontal when not in use to keep it from tipping over. I may be missing something in the instructions that would resolve this.

Wow, after many irons, this is the one that has worked the best. The only negative is that the cord does not recoil very good. I would buy this product again!

Es muy bonita la plancha y funciona muy bien. Solo que al entregarla los de la paquetería aventaron el paquete a mi domicilio. Lo encontré tirado, así que la plancha está rota ligeramente. Es funcional pero no es lo que esperaba en ese aspecto. No me dejan poner comentarios sobre la entrega. Y no me permite devolverla, me mandan a reembolso. Pero ya había batallado en Amazon con el envío de otra plancha y la verdad me urgía tener una buena plancha. Así que así lo deje porque en si la plancha funciona muy bien, pero me dejó ese sinsabor el encontrar la plancha aventada, pero eso ya es responsabilidad de quién lo entrego.
