I bought this for a 1992 Nissan pickup that spends most of its life sitting in the driveway contemplating retirement. It only gets called into service for important missions such as hauling junk to the dump, transporting furniture, or helping neighbors move things they probably should have thrown away years ago.Because it sits so much, we've had the battery die on us multiple times. A battery disconnect switch seemed like an easy and inexpensive solution.Installation itself was straightforward and only took a few minutes. The switch feels solid, and the operation is simple and intuitive. However, I learned an important lesson during installation: think about the available space before you buy.On our truck, the battery sits upright, which meant the disconnect switch was also positioned upright. This made it easy to access, but it also created an unexpected problem. After installation, the hood wouldn't close. Apparently, the engineers at Nissan never planned for me to bolt extra hardware onto a truck that predates widespread internet access.Fortunately, I was able to reposition the switch and make everything fit. Had there been any less clearance, I probably would have needed to return it. Before purchasing, I'd recommend measuring the space above and around your battery to avoid the same surprise.Since installation, the switch has worked exactly as intended. It's a simple way to prevent battery drain on vehicles that sit for extended periods, and the price is very reasonable.As an added bonus, it also functions as an anti-theft device. Granted, the truck already has a manual transmission, which is arguably an anti-theft device in its own right these days, but every extra layer helps.Overall, this is a useful and affordable product. Just make sure your battery compartment has enough room for it before ordering.

This has helped solve a parasitic draw issue I was having on my boat. With this installed, I can shut the power off when I am not using the boat and not worry about draining the battery. It also helps protect all my expensive electronics. It is easy to install, budget-friendly, and simple to activate.

I purchased this disconnect switch for my vintage camper trailer. It was easy to install. It turns and off with an audible click so it is easy for me to know when the battery connection is live or off. In the past, I have used screw-type turn on/off disconnect switches which, for me, are hard to know when the battery is off/on unless something electrical is running off the battery when the switch is engaged. It appears to be of sturdy construction and I suspect that it will last for several years with moderate use.

I originally purchased two of the 1-2-Both switches. When I checked out of the box the switches worked as they should. However, I never checked operation once I had connected battery cables onto each of the post connections, tightened the nuts on the post and mounted the switch. You want to do this when working with large currents as it can causes issues later if they aren't tight.Fast forward about 6 months after my purchase. I had a bank of batteries that went bad. I went to check the bank and got a nice little jolt. So, I started disconnecting cables directly from the batteries. I then dismounted the switch and decided to check it. Sure enough it didn't turn off when in the OFF position. To make matters worse, It didn't shut off connection 2 when in Position 1 and didn't shut off connection 1 when in Position 2.So just to make sure I wasn't imagining things, I pulled the cable connections from the switch and checked it. It worked fine. Position 1, 2, 1+2 and Off all operated as expected. As soon as I reconnected the cables it stopped working and started shorting contacts.Unfortunately, I had already ordered two replacement units thinking the originals had just gone bad and the originals were out of warranty (I had them for about 6 months). So I now had four of these switches. So I decided to check if this was just something with one of the switches or if they all had the same issue. Nope, they all had the same issue. I had a switch in place that not only caused issues with my battery banks but is a huge safety issue.I have gone to separate banks now and I'm waiting on a switch that is a single connection only. I hope this is an isolated case. However, you should check your switches to ensure that AFTER you tighten the cables to the connection posts with the included nuts. Ensure that not only do they connect for position 1 (to the 1 location), position 2 (for the 2 location), for both and that it does NOT connect on position 1 when you are on position 2 and not on position 2 when you are on position 1. It should also not connect when the position is set to the off position. If it does, this is an accident waiting to happen.

Does the job but there are nicer, smaller units for top post batteries

Big chunky and be aware you need to push in to turn so it has to be mounted such that the pushing force is supported. pop out panels all around and optional backer give flexible mounting options. I wish there was an option with 1/4" posts as these are huge, but this is rated for 50A so I get it.

Perfect disconnect switch for my boat battery. Bought one of these a while back and installed on my tractor and it has been working great, so I think this one will work great for a long time on my boat. With the back being able to come off it makes it easy to hold where you’re planning to mount and mark the holes using a sharpie.

Looks quality. The item is substantially heavy compared to the competition. But just wont work on my car, even the bendable ones did not fit my car.

Excellent quality and versatile isolator switch, used on our self built camper who haemorrhages battery power when sat on our driveway! The awkward layout meant that we needed to install on the + side and this was one of the very few dedicated to the positive terminal and as the terminals are different sizes it needs to be the right size and this fits beautifully, thoroughly recommend this isolator switch.
