The BEST for amount and price!
Smells amazing! Tastes awesome in my buttercream recipe! Great amount for the price also! I have been looking for a great butter flavoring, since Wilton stopped making theirs….this seems like a winner so far 😊.

Great alternative...
I bought this imitation butter extract to make a vegan butter substitution. I don't love that it is artificial flavoring (who ever really knows what's in that!), but at least it was better than the other options which have a bunch of food dye as well. The flavor was pretty good - definitely helps get you over that hump of trying to remove butter from your diet. I probably won't buy it again, but it was a good step in the right direction for me. Here is the recipe that I used to make my vegan butter: Ingredients: 1 cup original soy or coconut milk 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar 1 tsp salt 1 3/4 cup (14 oz jar) refined coconut oil (unrefined will have a coconut flavor) 3 tbsp canola oil 2 tbsp soy lecithin granules or 1 tbsp sunflower lecithin or 5 tsp agar agar powder 1/4 tsp xantham gum Directions: Add vinegar and salt to the milk. Stir. Allow this to curdle for 5-10 minutes. If using soy lecithin granules, grind into a powder. A mortar and pestle is easiest, but a small electric grinder is fine too. The coconut oil is easiest to measure when it’s melted. Place in a sunny window or microwave for 1 minute. Place the ingredients in a blender. I use the Vitamix. Blend at high speed for 2 minutes. For “sticks” of butter, pour into a silicon mold, place on a cookie sheet (because the mold is not steady and cleaning up spilled butter is not fun) and place in the freezer for about an hour. Store in the refrigerator or leave at room temperature, depending on preference. If this recipe is too large, simply freeze what will not be used within a week or two.

Gives much needed flavor to vegan baking
I love this stuff! Just a quarter of a teaspoon makes such a difference. I am trying to bake vegan but everything comes out tasteless and bland. This really gives things that buttery kick that vegetable shortening lacks. I add it to cakes, cookies, pie crusts and anything baked.

Rich flavor
I use this to make eggnog flavored simple syrup for my coffee. During the holidays, I used eggnog from the dairy department in the grocery and found it great in coffee. But after the holidays, it's no longer stocked so I use this with rum and vanilla extracts. Good substitute.

Floral/Chemical Taste
Pungent, awful floral/chemical taste. Detectable even at 1/16 tsp. Will keep using McCormick.

Not Exactly What I Had Hoped For
I find the extract to have a rather alcohol taste. I don't think this would be so strong if you are using this for baking cookies, etc. as alcohol is dissolved with cooking, but I wanted this to mix in with olive oil for toppings and I don't think this will work. I cannot taste the actual extract for the alcohol. Stick to using this for cooking and it will be fine. Also, the bottle came without a lid. I used a lid from a regular 710ml soda pop bottle and it works fine.

That was a solid maybe
The smell and tastnof it is quite off putting. Perhaps melted butter smells like that but I am not certain. I have used it to make pancake syrup and use just the tiniest bit because it is not a nice addition to the flavour of the syrup. It was kind of expensive so I would definitely recommend buying a smaller one if you can find it somewhere and checking to see if it is the taste and smell you like

Very big bottle.....
Butter extract is hard to find where I am so I ordered here on Amazon. It is a VERY large bottle. The smell of the butter extract is strong so it will come out in your baking well. I've used this to make coffee syrups and it works well. I just wished these were sold in smaller bottles since I only really need a few teaspoons at a time.

Strange taste & smell
The smell is overwhelming and I wouldn't describe it as butter. And it's the dominant smell in my cupboard now despite being tightly closed. I think the taste is familiar from bought baked goods, that presumably use this and shortening instead of butter. Maybe I haven't found the optimal amount yet?
