It really seems to make a difference using rain water vs tap. This was very simple to install, however the section of garden hose I had was too small diameter to fit the clamping mechanism. A couple wraps of duct tape was enough to make it fit.

I like that it is made from a sturdy, thick plastic mold. But it comes as a two=part product, while not hard to assemble, makes it double the work to install when that is not necessary unlike a one-piece construction (as with its competitors). As the product ages and the rubber gasket inside withers, the two pieces will come apart easily; not good engineering in my opinion. It comes with a valve adapter, which I like as a bonus feature. The only other complaint I have is that it does not come with a tube to divert the rain into a collection barrel (unlike its competitors).

works well in light rain, in heavier rain, it would benefit from the "cap" seen in other devices to divert the rain to the sides and to the valved outlet.
