Q: Can I use this on aluminium

I don't see why not,but aluminium is a difficult metal for paint to adhere to without a special primer. But aluminium does not rust in the same way that steel rusts. So,do you really need to use Mammerite ??

You can paint over rust and existing paint, but it is better to remove any flaky paint or rust with a scraper and rub down excessive rust and paint with a wire brush and/or sand paper or other abrasive product before painting. If metal is particularly rusty, it will come through the paintwork eventually if the painted item is left outdoors exposed to the weather and will need painted every couple of years or so.

No you don't need to thin it. Just give it a good stir before you use it, and wear old clothes, it sticks to everything.

Paint for all seasons

Hammerite is my go-to paint for use on rusty metal. Using this hammered dark green to renew the finish on the cast iron legs of an old garden bench which needs to be outdoors for many more years.

drying time is a lot longer

Researched quite a bit before buying this paint. just done a test patch today on my bandsaw, a little disappointed with end result. There is not a hammered finish but neither is it smooth. Put it on as directions of the tin using a small water colour child's paint brush. Also I checked it after 10 hrs and it was still tacky, after 24 hrs it was dry. What I will say is it is a beautiful 2 tone colour green, so hay ho , I'm painting the whole saw anyway.

Great Colour

Used it on a Vice I was refurbishing, the tin looked tiny but it does seem to go a long way, painted a large Vice I was refurbishing & barely used any out the tin, once dried it gives a nice finish & I really like the colour
