Secrets of the Russian Chess Masters: Beyond the Basics: 02

This book is the biggest secret in chess! Ive been playing for 4 years in corr. chess with a 1650 rating.And I threw away the paper I had the title on, dug it out of the trash, after deciding to give it a try, and its the best chess book ive ever read.Why didn't somebody tell me, Because they where busy reading other books.This books deserves ratings as high in numbers of reviews as any of Silmans books.Its a perfect fit for my level of play.I will read this book again and again till I remember it in my games.And his other books as well.As im a fan of Lev Alberts way of teaching. Iwas giving a lot of thought to checking the prices of a number of chess coaches, now Ive saved that money. And without regreat.You havnt read a how to book on chess and Tactics till you've read this book.Its that good.

I thought that this book was very good overall. It included aspects from all parts of the game, game good information and example games about king and queen pawn openings, addressed a variety of tactical themes, and handled some of the basic endgame positions. Of all the areas, the endgame topics were the weakest, giving only a single example of the positions and not really diving any deeper than "do this in this case." This minor issue didn't detract from the book however. There were really no secrets however. This book is not a basic book, but it isn't intermediate either. Either a low intermidiate level or a high beginner. you need to be able to move the pieces and understand some basic chess, but nothing too extreme. 1100 rating needed. Probably not too much to offer those over 15-1600 IMO.

I have previewed this volume as I am currently deep into Volume1 (See my review of Volume 1). Promises to help my playing even more.What do you have to loose? Its only another Chess book for your soon to grow Chess Library. Enjoy your reading of both volumes.

I check it out from the local library and wanted to buy it. Its a great book to learn from and develop a strategy from. Great buy overall.
