I have an older model Macbook Pro-- a model famous for having dodgy USB ports that eject things like external hard drives frequently (constantly, in my case). I contacted apple years ago, but because the USBs were connected to the motherboard, getting the USBs fixed was impossibly expensive.So since like 2009, I have been sat here with my ancient Macbook Pro constantly ejecting my external hard drive, to great frustration.Lads, it was the cable. The cable that came with the external hard drive (a Samsung 1 TB, also very old) was starting to split after years of having to repeatedly plug it back it in to get it recognised. I bought this cable.My external hard drive has not ejected once since I started using this cable.If I had bought this cable YEARS ago, I wouldn't have spent the last whatever years constantly dealing with an external hard drive that ejects if you make the slightest move, and then spend the next 10-15 minutes and several restarts trying to get the computer to recognise the USB.I feel like an absolute idiot that I never put this together. But because Samsung was a decent brand name, and because my generation of Macbook Pros were famous for dodgy USBs that eject things constantly, I didn't ever check the cable like an absolute eejit.Very happy I finally figured it out (by accident), but yes, this works very well, and I feel like an idiot.
