2.5Gbps PCI E PCI Express FireWire 1394a IEEE 1394 Controller Card with Firewire Cable 800Mbps Desktop Card Image Capture Card

Have an old JVC MiniDV camera but they discontinued the old video cable attachment.So, bought this card with low expectations, but within 15 minutes I was capturing footage on my PC. Actually, from what I understand I was transferring the digital content directly to my PC which is lossless (preserves all the original image quality). I have an older PC - 16GB Ram, AMD FX-8320E 3200Mhz processor running Windows 10 64bit, and this card was automatically detected and installed by Windows when I booted up.I downloaded WinDV 1.2.3 for free from videohelp dot com's website. It's a super small file. Once I connected my camera to the cable and ran the cable to this card, I clicked the ... next to the listed camera or device in the WinDV software. It brought up a window and there was my camera's model. I clicked on it, then clicked the Capture button. It transferred a whole tape, but divided into 4 different files (every time the camcorder started a new recording). WinDV transfers the files over as .avi format files.From that same website I also downloaded VidCoder also for free. You can get this software directly from the developer's website at vidcoder dot net. I downloaded this because it can covert the .avi files from WinDV into MP4 (H.264) formatted files. This format is what iPhones have been using for several years and keeps maximum quality with minimum file size. I converted one file that was originally 2.66GB and the new file size in MP4 from VidCoder was 196MB - AMAZING!I hope this helps some folks. I gave up hope on ever getting these old tapes captured, but this card with cable is an excellent value - 5 stars all the way.
