These definitely hold the wires better than my regular bendable “helping hands” clamps as it is much easier to get the wires properly aligned, but getting small wires into position is a little awkward due to the way the clips must be lifted up. I used it to solder a small cable with 6 wires about 0.4mm (26 AWG) and it was very helpful though a bit fiddly.

Works well. Allows me to cleanly solder two wire together. Handle most wire sizes well. Hair thin ones it will not hold still like thicker wire. Nice addition to my tools. Get one.

after all my years fighting trying to solder wires together this takes the hassle out of it. just put a wire on each prong facing each other then squeeze the pliers together until they make contact. the good thing is that I don't even have to hold the pliers leaving both hands free the the wires are perfect. Still years later I love this tool. I can’t seem to be able to to find mind and have no problem getting a second one because they are so nice.

When these arrived, they had PVC tubing slipped over the clips and the jaws. The purpose of the tubing appeared to be to prevent the spring steel from being bent in transit. The rub is that when I removed the tubing, the valleys in the spring steel clips were bent away from the valleys in the jaws, so that there was a gap a bit larger than the wires I was going to solder. The way the clips are attached to the jaws prevents one from being able to adjust the pressure the clips apply to the wires to hold them in place. Having extensive experience in making all kinds of repairs, I'll drill out the lightweight rivets and replace them with machine screws, after I tweak the clips so that they provide adequate pressure to hold even the smallest wires. Then if they get bent in the future it'll be an easy fix.

Holding up so far, Great idea when you really need an extra pair if hands and it isnt practical to do the repair at a normal soldering station. They are not something you always need but you are glad you have then when you do need them. I have not had a problem like some with the locking mechanism

These are nice and very helpful when trying to hold two wires together to solder. I would've bought one sooner if I had known. Working on automobiles trying to solder is a pain because you need a second person to hold the two wires together. This plier works great for that.
